My Actifit Report Card: September 11 2024 - Folk Music for 9/11
23 years ago was a tragic day. Bad things still happen. Wars are going in. Generally we might be better off with less war and more peace - between nations and between individuals.
Sound of Silence
I went to the pool today. On the way back, the Octane Sirius XM station did a short memorial for 9/11. At the end they played Sound of Silence by Disturbed. Of course the original was by Simon and Garfunkel in the 60s. But the version that became a huge hit was Not the original. You can read about this here.
The original version was a folk song recorded with acoustic guitar. A year later, the song became a hit when electric guitars were overdubbed.
So now here is the original folk version of Sound of Silence.
Where Have All The Flowers Gone
Another folk song that applies to all people at all times is Where Have All The Flowers Gone by The Kingston Trio from 1961. It is another folk song that speaks to us and makes us think.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?
This one chokes me up every time I hear it.
Blowing in the Wind
What are we to do? How can we ban the cannonballs?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind.
This is a fold song by Bob Dylan but I like the Peter Paul and Mary version and I found a live one with 30 Million views on YouTube.
My Activity
today was swimming in the pool. Then I took a walk at night. It was chilly and a bit overcast. Summer is ending my friends. Stay warm but keep cool. Let's all stay cool, calm and rational. Less emotion and more quiet deliberation. Less irritation about our differences and more understanding of what we all have in common.
Have a nice day! :)

It was indeed a sad day, 23 years ago. I don't think we will ever forget.
Good job with your 6030 @actifit steps for the day. Take care!
Love the song, however while also reminding me three days of silence when I got Meningitis changing my life forever. Best with your games.
This is no doubt a powerful reflection on the importance of peace, both globally and personally. Music like Sound of Silence and Where Have All The Flowers Gone really captures the longing for a more peaceful world. In a time when we often focus on our differences, it’s good to be reminded of what connects us. Here's to finding more understanding and less conflict.
23 years ago will Live on in the heart of many people
