My Actifit Report Card: April 12 2024 - HIVE History
Do you know Michael Vandeberg? He wrote the program you're using right now!

Some people may know the history of Hive but many don't. Hive is a full stack hard fork of Steem. The fork happened 4 years ago. Everything on Steem - the accounts, their token balances and their posts - all got copied to the brand new Hive blockchain.
Before there was Steem, there was Bitshares. Before there was Bitshares there was @dan Larimer. Dan had online discussions with Satoshi Nakamoto at the start of Bitcoin. He had many great ideas which he worked on at Bitshares including the invention of the term DAO and DPoS.
You can read all the details in this article and also learn more from this video from Michael Vandeberg (@vandeberg) who wrote most of the code for Steem/Steemit (founded in 2016 by @dan and @ned) according to what he says in the video. Vandeberg left Steem at the time of the Hive fork and started Koinos with Andrew Levine (@andrarchy).
Dan went on to found #EOS and now he is writing about Fractal Consensus and religion right here on Hive at @dan.
Watch the video to learn about some history and some brand new things going on at Koinos which may be of some use to Hive people.

My Activity
was the usual. Daily random moving around to keep the blood flowing, rather than just sitting at my desk all day.
At night I took the same walk I usually take. I have a few different routes and tonight I took the medium length path. It's been a cold and windy day but it was clear and no rain tonight. The crescent moon was out, and will be full again soon.
Have a great weekend! :)

Good to read hive history. I knew that Ned had created steem that forked to hive later in 2020 but I didn't know about Michael Vandeberg. Thanks for sharing this information
You're welcome. Thanks for reading and commenting, my friend!
This means that Michael Vendeberg has a lot of contribution to the growth of Hive
That’s awesome
It's fascinating to learn about the history of Hive and its origins from Steem, especially hearing about the individuals like Michael Vandeberg and Dan Larimer who played significant roles in its development. I know of Dan Larimer but it's my first time of hearing about Michael Vandeberg.
Thanks for sharing this insightful glimpse into the blockchain's backstory and the exciting new developments happening at Koinos. Wishing you a wonderful weekend as well!
Thanks for sharing the report and video, have a nice day, have a great weekend
