My first experience of FPL came with tough lessons.

I'm looking forward to today's discussion after sinking into a very unfavourable position in the current HiveFPL table. Haha. It's insane to see how far I am from the top and how close I have become to the bottom of the table.

Did you see that?

I'm comfortable sitting at that position out of 91 players who are currently registered in this league. The performance of my boys was far below average in gameweek 1.

Who would have thought that a combination of VVD and TAA in a back 4 can only bring home 2 points? Haha. It's shocking! Even the two points came with hard labour. Don't forget that they played against Fulham.

Ridiculous, isn't it?

The funny part of this is that when I started watching the game, it took less than 10 minutes for Liverpool's defense to show a lot of vulnerability. Deeper into the game, Trent went switched off and got schooled by Mitrovic.

The only consolatory line I can use here to weigh down the gravity of this awkward performance from the lads I filled into my team is the fact that 'this is my first time getting involved with FPL'. I hope that resonates with y'all as a decent excuse. Haha.

Check out where my stat stands amongst other FPL players all over the world.

lolzzz... It was a tough week.

Let's look at the players that didn't have a nice game week in my team;

1. Trent Alexander Arnold

We can't say enough about the defensive loopholes we have seen from Trent in recent times. I'm a Liverpool fan and I watch the lad week-in week-out. What he lacks defensively is made up for by the impact he makes attacking-wise.

But, it's always a pain to see him make the same mistake repeatedly. He allows himself to be schooled by attackers in his position when it matters most and that's why liverpool conceded that first goal.

2. Virgil Van Dijk

That's the big man. A clean sheet from him will always be the starting point of a decent game week for him.

I even made him the VC in the last game week but when he made a challenge that led to the second goal of the game, his point which was already shaky at 2 dropped to 1. T'was indeed a bad day at the office for liverpool defenders.

3. Sterling and Coutinho

Fair enough, the duo got a combined 5 points and I know they can do better. I just need to watch their subsequent fixtures and fit them into the line-up in a game where they will have high chances of getting goals or(and) assists.

4. Gabriel Jesus

Before game week 1, those that didn't want to splash money on Kane or Haaland had Gabriel J as their go-to man. It's not a surprise because we know he is premier league proven and he is now in a team where he is meant to lead the attacking week-in week-out.

That first game wasn't a smooth ride for him. I got 2 points from the lad and patiently looking forward to his performance in game week 2.

One player saved the same week for me

They say if you are in doubt about any game week, just captain Mo. Salah and look forward to his brilliance.

I gave Mo the armband in game week 1 and he came home with 24 points. That is electrifying! Haha. He scored more points than what the rest of the 10 players in my team got.

For game week 2; I need to go back to the teamsheet on Friday and see what I will come up with before the beginning of the second game week.

Can't wait to see how cooked the gameweek will be. Haha.

How about y'all?

Who saved the day in your first game week?

Was surprised about Jesus performance too coz he did well in pre-season matches.
I don't even know what to say about Trent.
Week 2 I'm sure you will do well.

No problem bro. It's actually not easy to work around the tram selection for the whole season. Hehe.

47 points in week 1 is ok. I always think it’s risky to have 2 defenders from the same club

I'm thinking the same. 2 defenders from sake team didn't work out. I need to readjust the team selection with each new gameweek.

This is not as bad as you and from what I learned in the previous season, we are just gambling on whether a player would give us good points or not.

Imagine Gabriel Jesus not getting even one goal, I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me. The Liverpool defense was completely messed up, and for this weekend, you should have Manchester City players because they are playing Bournemouth and they want to take advantage to accumulate goals.

Not sure, just predicting. Remember I said we are all just gambling...

Hahah... My brother. No be small thing oooo. It's a fun brainwork on display. Each gameweek will always come with its own turns and twists.

We just hope to get it right when it matters most.

You are doing very well in this FPL and you are one of those at the top spot. Haha. Nice one bro.

You're just 10 points off the GW average points so, it's not all doom and gloom. I rarely worry in the first five GW because emotions are always high and that increases the chance to make wrong moves. Even though Liverpool defenders blanked they will be at the top of the defenders scoring list when season ends.

For your team, I would've advised Matip instead of Van Dijk since you own TAA. The gain can be used to strengthen elsewhere. For now, Joel Matip is nailed due to Konate's injury. Also, Matip poses more attacking threat than Van Dijk.

That's spot on. At the moment, I don't see myself doing a 360° change to the team. I will give an awful lot of them a good run of game since I believe their long term impact will be cool.

Matip for Van Dijk is also a nice plan ✌️

If Robertson was at £6.5, I would've gotten him in alongside TAA. My plan has always been to have three strong defenders and then two starting £4.5 ones.

And this is the first time I'm starting the season with TAA. Didn't own him last season because I felt he was too expensive. I owned Matip and Robertson at some points in the season.

Players are selected with about six GW in mind so one poor GW shouldn't lead to an overhaul. By the way, I had just 50 points and not worried. All I did was Kane ---> Haaland.

I'm glad I managed to squeeze Darwin in but still, it wasn't a good performance by my team too because I only got 50 points. I am definitely going to tweak a lot of things too.

So many teams were saved by the brilliance of 2 or 3 players. It has promoted a lot of buy and sell within the week in preparation for gameweek 2.

I can't wait to see how this weekend will be for FPL

I've changed my team set up too and when City, Liverpool and Arsenal play a decent game with their key players, it would help my team.

Nice. We can't get it right at a go. Haha.

Even if a team scores a maximum point for us in a gameweek, there may still be variables that will warrant switching things up for the next gameweek.

That's true. I used vexation to use my wildcard to change a lot this evening and I am glad I did. Let's hope things pay off.

I had both of them in my back as well. My savior was Mo Salah and Haaland. Let's see how this weekend will be .

Hahah... Mo Salah the lifesaver. I saw a record earlier today that shows how No haven't been able to score in gameweek 2 since he came to EPL. Haha.

Will he break the deadlock this time around? We just don't know
