Liverpool 2 - 0 Man City | Staying Humble.
Liverpool has been on a very good run this season and I sure can't hide my excitement regarding the team's performance. Our fixtures for the week have been against the best of the best teams in Europe and in England.
In mid-week, we got a win against Real Madrid in our European Champions League fixture. This time around, we are up against Manchester City, the champions of England, and a win in this game will widen the gap between Liverpool's point and the rest of the title contenders.
For the record, Manchester City has not been in form this season. It must be sad for their fans to see them crumble. However, I can't complain because this is a golden opportunity for Liverpool to increase their chance of winning some silverware this season.
First Half;
The game started with Liverpool being in complete domination of Manchester City. They pressed hard, controlled the tempo of the game, and created a lot of goalscoring opportunities. We also got 5 corner kicks this half, and each of the corner kicks was fabulously delivered by Macca from the right and Trent from the left.
This half of the game could have easily ended with Liverpool being 4 goals ahead. However, we only managed to put one goal at the back of the net. It was a fabulous goal though.
The build-up to the goal is genuinely impressive. It came from a counterattacking long pass which was delivered by Trent. Salah picked that up and delivered an assist to Cody who scored to put Liverpool ahead before the half hour mark.
Second Half;
The second half of the game ended up presenting some troubling moments for Liverpool. They maintained their intensity. However, they struggled to create goalscoring opportunities because of the pushback from Manchester City.
The introduction of Doku gave Manchester City some attacking advantage. Doku is known for his dribbling ability and that helps him to create goalscoring opportunities for his team. He had a lot of 1v1 against TAA on the right side of Liverpool's defense.
Honestly, Trent struggled to defend against Doku.
As the pressure increased on Liverpool's defense, VVD ended up making a mistake that could have been costly. That mistake placed Kelleher in a 1v1 position against DeBruyne, and he made a crucial save between the sticks.
That moment was like a wake-up call for Liverpool. He got cooked.
Liverpool bounced back after a while, went on a couple of counterattacks, and won a penalty in one of those. Salah bottled a penalty in mid-week against Real Madrid. He stepped up again for this and scored!
That win sealed the 3 points for Liverpool.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
