Football Agenda... Inside Anfield.

Football can be so unpredictable to the point that tactics that worked in today's game can come back to bite you hard in the next game. That's just how it is and it's worse in a league that's as competitive as the English Premier League.

I've seen games where the manager gets everything right; from his team selection to the substitution, but still loses the game. I've also seen games where the players do everything right but still fail to get the desired result. Maybe it's them being unlucky. However, I have no issue with players and Managers trying something. They can do their best... If it works, that will count as a job well done. If it doesn't work. Then, that's it.

As a Liverpool fan, I've seen my team at their best and I know how much of a threat they can pose against opposition. Remember that night in Anfield when we were at a 3-goal disadvantage against Barcelona? Yeah! We pulled a comeback and buzzed the game.

I still have that game in mind and I remember that Liverpool squad. That's probably why I always have high expectations when Liverpool lines up to play any game, especially when we are playing at home. Well, our last two home games in the EPL haven't been inspiring.

Did y'all see the one against Manchester United?

Man, Liverpool were so bad in that game. Our forward line hasn't been themselves this season and, weirdly, something like this is happening in a season when we arguably have a midfield combination that is so much better than what we had when Henderson, Milner & Keita were in the squad. We should be banging in goals for fun, but that hasn't been the case.

The game against Manchester United was a sad one and it was also a depressing game, to be fair.

Well, we played in Anfield again last night and it ended as a 1 - 1 draw. This time around, we played against Arsenal in a game that most journalists and pundits saw as the title-deciding game. They talked about this as a game that will potentially have everything you would expect from a high-profile fixture.

As expected, it had goals, intensity, officiating controversies, ruthless tackles, killer passes, counterattacks... Name it! It was also another game where Liverpool conceded an early. A goal that came before the first 5 minutes of the game. We managed to come back into the game and subsequently equalized the scoreline before the end of the first half.

The rest of the game was an interesting one. We got a couple of chances, but our execution of those chances cost us the game. That makes a back-to-back Draw for us in EPL. I hope things get better from here on.

Let's take a moment to have a look at FPL.

My FPL squad for the week got points that were enough to give me a win in the Head-to-Head battle that was scheduled for me in this game week of HiveFPL. That will take me some places ahead in the HiveFPL and HiveNaija FPL fixture.

Before the beginning of this game week, I took 4 points hit in the transfer market to get SON into my squad. The idea for that was to have him do some magic for me while SALAH was away for AFCON. I forgot that SON would also be going for AFC Asian Cup in January. I would have to take some hits to ship him and SALAH off my squad as soon as possible.

That's it for the week.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

When Salah had the ball and all 3 more players were running with to an almost lone goalkeeper I thought they would get their winning goal. As you rightly said the execution in the box is missing. In the ManU game, it seemed like players were kicking it in blindly hitting defenders rather than the back of the net. Hope Liverpool comes back in a better shape. This is the first season after a long time that I am checking out EPL again and it does seem quite interesting. I must admit the Champions League coverage by Kate Abdo and the boys is the main reason my World Cup interest continued into European and English football :)

Awesome. I like the shout-out you gave to Kate Abdo and the boys. I like the way she teases Micah Richard. I also like the scouse accent from Jamie Carragher and I like the serious takes that Henry gives. Haha. They are a whole vibe whenever they are running the Champions League Coverage

True. I like all these shows by ex-Footballers as their experiences and discussions make the world outside UK and Europe appreciate football and the craze around it better. My favorite was the Sky show by Gary Neville where he had a walking discussion with Jamie Carragher about the latter's life. As part of the discussion I came to know about Jamie and his father being Everton fans as a child, as they were walking through the part of Liverpool where they lived at the time. That kind of spoken history is so beautiful and gives an idea of why the fans love clubs and teams.

Speaking of, congratulations on Liverpool's victory on Burnley. Top of Premier League on boxing day is not half bad ;)

Though I haven't seen a lot of Liverpool's games this season, however, what baffles me the few times I have seen them perform is the amount of dead weights they are carrying up top. Luis Diaz has been terrible. Nunez has been very inconsistent. And, to worsen the problem, Klopp placed more creative load on Salah, forcing him to stay out wide and create more chances instead of rushing the box 18 likes he's used to.

Klopp's plan would've worked if Nunez and co were putting those chances to bed, but they aren't doing that, not yet. Though it seems too early to call, I wouldn't fault Jurgen Klopp if he starts looking at alternatives to.Nunez. That team needs a clinical striker to convert the chances created.

Bro... You are on point. I'm currently at the HT of the game between Burnley & Liverpool and this is the same issue. Our attackers are not burying their chances. I'm sure we would have had 3 good goals before the end of the first 45 minutes, but that wasn't the case.

Second half is already starting. Haha. Merry Christmas, Bro

For some reasons, I still think Jota is a way better striker than Nunez. The Portuguese is in the mould of Firmino - former wing wizards turned creative strikers.

If the dude remains fit, he has everything needed to propel Liverpool to the title. He can finish with both feet, very difficult to track because of his movements, and incredibly good in the air for someone his size, too.

Merry Christmas, Bro.

Hopefully, you will join to play or manage them, that way everything will come out right especially with this kind of enthusiasm you have. 😅. Your club is doing well, as for me, I have no particular one I support but wish the best well.
