The final games of the league stage of the Champions League is scheduled for today and all the games are kicking off at exactly the same time. That means we have 18 champions league games going on at the same time.

Can you even imagine how that would be? The notifications were buzzing with goals.

Honestly, despite the fact that I'm a Liverpool fan and Liverpool have been at the top of the Champions League table in the league stage of the competition, I've been doubtful about how thrilling this new Champions League format could actually be. Well, this particular day of the competition made me fall heard over heels for this particular format.

With 18 UCL games going on, I had my eyes on the goal rush for all the games. However, Liverpool's game against PSV is the one that had all my attention.

First Half

Liverpool has played a lot of games this season and since this could be considered a game of lesser importance, we all expected Arne Slot to make a couple of changes to the starting XI. Well, he did something way more unpredictable by changing the entire starting XI except Cody Gakpo.

Even the bench was filled with players who are knocking it out in Liverpool's junior team. We saw that an hour before the game and knew that this game would go either way.

The first half ended up as a goal galore for both sides. 5 goals were scored in this half of the game and the goals were shared by both sides in an interesting proportion. By the end of the first half, 3 goals were in favor of PSV while Liverpool had 2 goals to themselves.

We ended the first half with Liverpool being on a losing side.

Second Half

For a game with a lot of goals in the first half, the second half of this game had no single goal in it.

It was absolutely surprising.

I sure didn't expect too much from this game. Seeing the line up made it even clearer that I shouldn't expect anything from the game. However, I wasn't impressed with the guys that got their chance today. A lot of them played like they don't have what it takes to wear Liverpool shirt.

Big shout-out to Endo, Elliot, Kelleher, and Chiesa. I believe those are the players that had fairly decent performance in their game. They deserve their flowers for trying to hold things together for the other lads.

Cody played just 50 minutes before getting subbed off to get some rest ahead of more serious games. He also impressed really well in the moments he spent on the pitch.

I won't dwell too much on Liverpool's performance in this game for obvious reasons. I just know that a lot of the players that messed up today has to level up their performance if they want to stand a chance of getting more game time from Liverpool's Manager.

The league stage of the UCL is wrapped up successfully.

Our attention is now on the fixtures that comes next.
