Anfield erupts as Liverpool makes it to the Quarter-final of Europa League.
Liverpool's run in the Europa League this season has been phenomenal and quite inspiring. They are buzzing in the league and ruthlessly getting the job done all over Europe. Yeah! They just got themselves into the Quarter-final of the Europa League after completely outplaying Sparta Prague.
The First Leg Of The Game;
For the first leg of the game, Liverpool traveled to Prague, Czech Republic with a squad that's blended with kids. Interestingly, that game turned out so much better than any Liverpool fan expected.
The kids did well and put Liverpool ahead with a 5 - 1 win against Sparta Prague. With that scoreline in an Away ground, you can easily say that Liverpool has already qualified for the next round of the competition. Nonetheless, the second round still had to be played and it was going to be a game at Anfield, the home ground of Liverpool.
The Second Leg Of The Game;
Despite already having all the odds in our favor, it was surprising to see the blend of players that got into the starting lineup for Liverpool last night. Nunez, Salah, Endo, Szobo, and even Cody got into the starting lineup. On one hand, we knew this would be an exciting win for Liverpool. On the other hand, folks were worried about the chances of exposing these folks to injury especially with our next game being against Manchester United.
Liverpool kicked off the game with a quick series of attacks and they were very clinical in front of the goal. As you would expect, Liverpool scored the first couple of goals. However, what most people wouldn't expect is the scoring of 4 goals within 7 minutes in that first half of the game. The eruption of Anfield following each goal was heard far and wide. The visitors also got a goal for themselves before the first half came to an end.
The second half was pretty much an opportunity for Klopp to give the starters a rest and field in new legs. Some of the young lads also got their senior debut in the game and Liverpool managed to get two more goals before the end of that half of the game.
With that phenomenal performance, the aggregate scoreline for Liverpool in this round of the competition settled at 11 against Sparta Prague's 2. All eyes are now on the draw for the Quarter-final of the Europa League. I'm looking forward to that and I genuinely hope we will be tied against a side that won't be much of a headache to deal with.
For now, we celebrate!
