Jupiter did not form in the current position, it formed much further away from the sun, this has been known for a long time and it approached inwards, luckily it stopped where it stopped, because if it were to continue approaching towards the sun it would be would have carried Mars, the Earth and everything it would have found in between, we still do not know why it made that trip from its place of formation nor why it stopped.

I am almost more intrigued by why it stopped than why it moved, because lately within the exoplanets we have found many hot Jupiters, which is what planets similar to Jupiter are called, but which are very very close to their star, in fact. , is so close to its star that astronomers suspect that it is impossible for them to have formed there in that place, so they had to migrate, they had to move from their point of formation to be placed so close to the star and in that process they were sweeping away all the planets along the way, that's why in those places in those stars with hot Jupiters it will be very difficult for us to find planets similar to Earth.
