My Actifit Report Card: May 30, 2023

Yesterday I logged 5,786 steps on Actifit, roughly 4,200 steps shy of my daily 10K step goal. In morning I had to run a few errands. When I got back home I did an inspect on both of my hives. Unfortunately the Queen in the 2nd hive (along with her attendants) did not make it out of their chamber. It looks like they’ve been killed. It’s possible that the apiary accidentally put a Queen in the 3lb package, therefore they did not accept this new Queen. I double checked and noticed a thriving colony with freshly laid eggs, but did not see the queen itself. Sometimes she can be very tough to spot. But I’m assuming there’s one in there. I’ll look again in a few days to see if I can find her. The first colony is off to a slow start, and again I could not find the Queen but noticed freshly laid eggs. I look forward to a follow up inspection at the end of the week.
