Fun friends and amazing skies: November 26 2024
My friends and I are getting into a routine of leaving work early on occasion to go walking. The days are so short and it is dark by the end of the work day!
We have discovered that if we meet at 4:00, we can walk for a full hour and get plenty of steps before it is too dark to see.
We were thrilled to catch sight of a beautiful sunset sky!
A funny thing happened. We were walking around my neighborhood, which is a perfect thousand-step route. A few cars drove past, because of course it was the end of the day and people were returning home from work.
Each time, my friends would jump out of the way as if they were in danger.
I laughed and reassured them that people in my neighborhood always keep an eye out for walkers, children, and people with dogs, because we have no sidewalks.
Just then another car came by, driving slow, and drove way too close to us. Just past our little group of three, the car slowed way down, and I began to get nervous.
“What the heck is going on with that car?” I asked.
One of my friends said, “I think it’s someone looking for a house.”
The car turned around in the road and came back our way, very close to the side of the road where we were walking. We jumped out of the street.
“Move over!” One of my friends shouted.
It was really getting dark by then and we couldn’t see into the car. But then it pulled up next to us, and we saw that inside was a very old lady who probably shouldn’t have been driving!
She asked us directions to a particular house (my next-door neighbor) and I pointed the way. She turned around again and came our way, and we nearly got run over again as she got to the house she was looking for.
Whew! We laughed, but we were all glad when we didn’t have to worry about jumping out of the street any longer!
Thanks for visiting!
