Biking to the lake: September 22 2024
Happy first day of Autumn (at least for those in the northern hemisphere). It was lovely today where I live — southeast Minnesota, not far from Minneapolis.
We finally had a crisp fall day after a few weeks of it being rather hot. I did some yard work and took a 13-mile bike ride out to the lake.
Of course I always have to pose my steed by the water so I can capture the moment (aka evidence) that I biked the far.
There were a lot of people down by the marinas. It’s still pleasant weather for boating. Also there was a weekend festival called Apple Days, which I had just missed as it was the end of the day. I intended to bike there earlier, to visit some of the stalls and vendors, but the day conspired against me.
There are many charter boats and ferries at that part of the lake, which is called Port of Excelsior. One was just taking off for a tour as I passed the big boats.
And of course I stood and watched other boats as well, all shining in the sun. It’s such a peaceful scene. I love the serenity of it!
