Sublime and Beautiful Sunday - Actifit: July 3 2022
Hello my friends. I have done so many things this weekend that I don’t even know where to begin, so I thought I would just show some pictures of my garden. Today was a day for trimming back deadheads, pulling a few weeds and doing some watering. I also got steps from doing other things around the house and helping out at a party.
My garden is in full color right now. There are more flowers to come, as I have cone flowers, sunflowers, morning glories, and lavender coming. But here’s what is growing and showing currently.
First — Asiatic lilies!
Next up: geraniums!
The next one looks like an overgrown mess, doesn’t it? Actually, there are two tomato plants on the right and a morning glory on a trellis on the left. In the front is a row of marigolds, and then two rows of lettuce between the marigolds and the tomato plants.
It’s a little crowded! There are several reasons for the marigolds. They provide instant color, blossom all summer long and help to prevent pests. I never spray any chemicals on my garden.
The extra marigolds went into a pot with some basil.
The next one is a cucumber plant, again with some marigolds!
Here’s my mint plant, which is growing completely out of control. I regularly snip some to toss into salads and cooking, but I may have to have a mojito party!
That’s it for my garden at the moment, except for one thing - a fresh salad made with lettuce and herbs from the garden!

The flowers are so lovely but asiatic lilies is more lovelier.
I love them! My sister has the same kind, but in a deep maroon. Their blooms only last about a week, though!

There is some masterful companion-planting on the go there to keep the pests away while making the beds as pretty as a picture.
All I've got around my tomatoes is basil 😅 But I do want to get some marigolds on the go next year as a companion plant and to attract more bees into the greenhouse 🌞
Hi @raj808! Yes, the companion planting is fun and it provides great color too. That's nice that you have tomatoes and basil. Those two are great companions! Well, for culinary reasons anyway!
