Weekend celebrations — Actifit: June 18 2022
This story is a catch-up post for Saturday, which was the first of two full days this weekend devoted to family celebrations.
We had an evening party scheduled, so I spent the entire day, finishing up gardening tasks, cleaning the house and preparing food. Hence my nearly 30,000 steps. I was on the go all day!
The first guests arrived an hour early at 5 pm. But fortunately they were all ready and willing to pitch in with final preparations, and all the food was set out and ready by the time the next round of guests came. What a blessing!
The party was for my twins, who turned 21 last week. Nearly the whole extended family came, including tons of nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, along with several good friends. At one point I had them all cluster together for a photo. It was very special because we have not all gotten together since before the pandemic began.
The little kids drew a cake and presents on the driveway using sidewalk chalk for the birthday honorees.
It was a wonderful evening, with perfect weather. Actually it was sunny and a bit too warm at first. Then, just about the time we were getting ready to eat, the sun slipped down below the trees to give us some nice shade.
I’m so blessed to have an extended family that really enjoys one another!
The next celebration was of course today, Father’s Day. So after staying up quite late enjoying time with the party stragglers and then doing some initial cleanup, I got some sleep and then leapt out of bed in the morning to make a full breakfast for my immediate family. We had a wonderful meal together after the raucous festivities of the night before!

Thank you, @joanstewart. It has been a wild adventure raising three kids, two of which are the same age! It feels like a milestone in parenting, that I somehow got all of them launched into adulthood. And none of them hate me! Ha ha ha.
Thinking back one doesn't fully realize the path especially with twins, most teenagers are difficult, I know I was, getting here is a milestone.
