Sublime and Beautiful Sunday - Fresh Snow - Actifit: January 24 2022
I’m in catch-up mode! By the time I finished my admin tasks in The Ink Well last night, I was too out of steam to write a post.
But I did have an absolutely beautiful walk with the sun shining on fresh snow yesterday, and had to share. These pictures were all taken on a trail near a lake, which is frozen and covered in a blanket of snow. So you’ll see trail, some marsh pictures and a bit of the lake.
Picnic, anyone?
How about a relaxing sit on a bench?

Next, some trees and shadows across the snow.
Now you’ll see the marsh and the cattails with little snow hats, and beyond the marsh is the lake.
Heading back to the car…. Ever wonder what happens to fire hydrants in places where there is a lot of snow in the winter? They have to put markers on them so they can be found.
What about all the snow in parking lots? Where does it go? Well, if you drive around Minnesota you will see small mountains at the edge of every parking lot, pushed into a heap there by snow plows.
For my last picture, I’ve done some edits to a photo of the little free library box that sits at the edge of the church parking lot where I parked to go walking. I’ve heightened and brightened the colors, bringing out some blue-green tints in the snow, and added a vignette edge. This is my attempt at a “funky edit” for the #sublimesunday tag, hosted by @c0ff33a.

t seems that we are moving around by opening the freezer of a big refrigerator. Such beautiful pictures. It seems that if there is a heaven somewhere, then this is it. Tremendous photography.

I really admire your going out for a walk in the snow. I know many people do it, but I dislike winter so much that it is hard to believe. Nonetheless, the photos are stunning! I can see the beauty. I just prefer to see it from a warm spot.
A friend who lives in Kitchener-Waterloo in Ontario frequently posts photos on FB of his winter cross-country skiing exploits. It is a joy to him. Ironic because, now that I consider it, thirty years ago, I am fairly certain I took him cross country skiing for the first time. Obviously, he enjoyed it more than I did (since I don't go). Maybe if they had cross country skiing in the summer? Ha! Still, no.

Ha ha, yes, winter is not for everyone! Many people leave here at least for a few weeks in the winter to be able to manage the long cold winters. We are probably going to do the same as we get older, but I really do love getting out and seeing the bright sun on the snow. I feared it until I moved here, and to my surprise, I really love it!
