Saturday retrospective and Late Market Friday - Actifit: January 8 2022

Sometimes I don’t get around to posting to Actifit until the next day, especially when I have a super busy day. Yesterday was one of those days. Yesterday was an on-the-go day from dawn to dark! Here’s a whirlwind tour.

It started with a trip to the post office to drop off my New Year’s cards. (I never get around to sending greetings during the holidays. Are you sensing a theme? 😁)

Then I still had a few Christmas gift returns so my daughter and I went to the Mall of America (referred to in these parts as The Big Mall or the acronym MOA). And that is where my photo tour of the day begins!

If you have never been to the Mall of America, it’s quite a spectacle. There are three floors you can walk in a circle around the giant center area where there are rides and activities.

I highly recommend the Minnesota stores!

Here you can see some of the rides.

One of the big attractions is Lego Land, where they have some gigantic Lego figures like this one.

It’s hard to grasp the scale of that thing. So here’s another picture of where you can see the people walking around on the floor below.

Here are a few more stores. Initially I was going to post a Market Friday post with these pictures, as I had made a failed attempt at going to the mall for a walk on Friday evening specifically for the purpose of getting both steps and store pictures. But with Covid in full swing again, and the holidays past, the malls are closing at 7 pm! So I missed it.

I shall add the tag anyway, and tag Ms. @dswigle, the wonderful host of Market Friday! (It’s the thought that counts, right? 😂)

You must check out the #marketfriday initiative, and community if you haven’t yet!

And here’s a view of multiple floors.

That’s all for the mall! Later in the afternoon I went for a walk with my dog at the local park. It had warmed up considerably from the day before, and the temperature was at a relatively balmy 32 degree’s Fahrenheit (0 Celsius), which is nearly 40 degrees warmer than just 24 hours earlier!

If you have seen any of the pictures I’ve posted of myself from my walks lately, you know I have had to completely cover my face and wear heavy snow gear from head to toe, including a ridiculous furry hat. For just that one day it warmed up! All I need was my jacket and hood!

Zoey was very happy to get to the park!

There is one area where a lot of dogs go to play together.

We also walked out along the marsh and on some other trails.

Okay, that brings us to the end of the day when I took my car to the car wash. These pictures cracked me up and I just had to share a few.

Thank you for reading my hodge podge blog post!

What an epic mall. Many people hate malls but I enjoy them. Everything is so convenient. Cafeteria, restaurants, arcades, movies, bookstores, game shops, bakeries, and lotsa shopping. What's not to like? 😊

I totally agree. And the people watching opportunities are spectacular, which is great for fiction writers. 😁

The Mall of America is especially nice. You can go on roller coaster rides, go to an aquarium, see a movie, go on a “Fly Over America” adventure, and fine tons of great food!

America has perfected the art of the shopping mall. I've never been on a roller coaster inside a mall. I'd probably die of joy! Please don't tell me they sell cotton candy :)

Oh yes, I'm sure you can buy cotton candy. I think I've seen it there. But it is not fresh made. For that you'll have to come to the Minnesota state fair!

Wow! This post is packed with all the fun! You know #MarketFriday loves you! You put together such an amazing post, filled with all sorts of great activities. You are awesome! The Malls of America is such a huge place. I had never been to such a place when I went. Holy Moly, right? It is like beyond any kid's dream! And the rides!!!! Which one did you go on? Confess!

I want to run with the dogs. Don't they look like it's fun out in that cold? I will say that they have the life!!!

Did you take me to the car wash too? Hello!!! This post wins! I love it when you join! You are so much fun, and I am so late, I apologize! Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday! I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see so many participating every week. I have learned so much about the different cultures of the world, especially the small things that go unnoticed except by those looking for it. Life is interesting, wherever you are, whatever you are doing.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
  3. Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)
    5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
  5. Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post. If you don't and someone reads it, there is nothing to tie #MarketFriday to that post.
  6. Please only one post each week. Believe it not, I run out of voting power if you put in many more than that.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Thank you, dear @dswigle, for your lovely comment! I did not go on any of the rides this time around, as we were there for a few quick errands. I am so nostalgic when I go there because I used to bring the kids and put them on the kiddie rides. There are some moments of pure joy that are forever burned into my memory.

I'm so glad you got to go to MOA once. The grandeur of it is quite something, isn't it?

Thank you for hosting Market Friday, and for all your encouragement and community building!

❤️ Thank you!

I did love it there and have been twice! (woo-hoo!) I took my kids and it spoiled the rest of the malls forever! LOL It is so amazing, truly!

Ha ha. Of course. They go to a regular mall and they're like: "Mom, why doesn't our mall have a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster?"
