Sublime and Beautiful Sunday - Actifit: December 19 2021
Some beautiful fresh snow arrived this weekend. The temperature dropped over 30 degrees, and it was bitingly cold. But I never let that stop me! I always love going out.
I absolutely love how the shadows of the trees play across the snow.
As you can see, I had to put on my warmest gear. It was about 20 degrees Fahrenheit (-6.66 Celsius). But as I walked I got too warm and I had to take my hat and gloves off for a little while to cool off.
The next set of images are of pristine frozen ponds, covered in fresh snow and unmarried by tracks. It doesn’t last long this way. Birds and bunnies and squirrels and deer and other creatures will make tracks across the snow. (Humans too, as soon as the lakes are pronounced safe and solid by the authorities.) But for the moment, they are like an iced vanilla cake.
Most of the trail I strolled was already well traveled. The trail had been plowed and plenty of people had been out walking with their dogs in the morning before I arrived. But one trail was untouched!
I just had to capture that first step into fresh snow. And here is one more shot of the trail with my new tracks.
Here are a few pictures of fences and other close-ups.
At the end of my walk I came around to the far side of the lake from where I started and just had to capture a few more pictures of that pristine surface, the small island in the center, and the cattails at the edge.
Thank you so much for visiting! And thank you to @ace108 for hosting the #beautifulsunday tag, and to @c0ff33a for hosting the #sublimesunday prompt.

I have never seen snow in my life, but it really looks so beautiful in the photos and conveys so much peace. I can't imagine how that cold will be, and I complain when we get to 24 degrees lol. 😅
It is a lot of fun when you get used to the cold and have the right clothing to stay warm. I look forward to it every year!
Beautiful patch of white all over where you were heading.
I love making fresh tracks in the snow!
So beautiful. Lovely pictures :)
Thank you!
As I said to you in my reply to your comment on my post, I love all your shots, but that picture of the pier with the shadow (11 up from the bottom) is particularly gorgeous! Those vanilla frosted ponds are beautiful as well - what an amazing place to take a walk. Love that selfie smile too - thanks for letting us all come on a wonderful walk with you, @jayna. 😊
Thanks so much for your visit, @traciyork. I am definitely blessed with beautiful places to walk! Oh yes, I love the shadow on that dock over the frozen lake too.
I hope you are enjoying your holidays!

Freezing just looking at it. Looks like quite a fun place.
It's very cold indeed! But with the right gear, you can be quite warm. Thank you for visiting, @enjar!
