The Moon and Venus - Actifit: December 6 2021

It was a long and busy day, and this picture is the only one I was able to get today. The moon hung low in the sky, perfectly positioned for a beautiful pose with Venus. It was magical.

I drove out to the airport for a Covid test. No, I don’t actually think I have Covid. But I do have cold symptoms. And since I’m hosting an event this week, I want the peace of mind that it’s not something more. Walking through the airport is how I got most of my steps.

Anyway, when I came back out of the airport the moon was even lower in the sky and appeared enormous. It was quite a spectacular sight with Venus gleaming overhead.

I raced to my favorite park, even though it was pitch black out and that park is not the safest place at night. But I was desperate to try to get that picture with the setting crescent moon looking so huge and orange.

I got to the park and jumped out and ran through the dark to the top of a small hill where I can usually get a view. But all I could see was a brilliant orange tip of the crescent as it slipped below the horizon.
