(ESP-ENG) Venezuela ya no es una sorpresa. [Opinión]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
The country in recent days and why not, in recent months has experienced a series of positive emotions that have made this whole movement of "Hand, I have faith" transcend to the point that it has become something international / global that everyone is talking about. This is not a coincidence or a product of chance or referee favors, this is a project led by Bocha Batista which, as time goes by, seems to be yielding more and more fruits that in the end are transformed into triumphs. La Vinotinto is no longer the Cinderella, we are no longer the easy 3 points, we are no longer the surprise and that is something that is becoming more and more clear to our rivals.
I would say that yesterday's experience is one of the most important sporting events that has happened to the national team, it is possible that it is the most important victory in recent times since it is one that qualifies us to the quarterfinals of a Copa America. The formula was the same as against Ecuador in the sense that we went out with an 11, you see what works and what doesn't, you correct and BOOM, the improvement comes. The starting eleven was a purely offensive one due to the need to win; Savarino, Bello and Aramburu were the three variables that the coach considered given the circumstances.
The first half was complicated, was Mexico better? - At times I would say yes. Venezuela found it hard to have the ball, it was difficult to create plays, to have possession, which in the end was transformed into a certain Mexican pressure which was not very incisive and vertical either. The issue is that between the midfield and the wingers there was a very big gap which made it difficult to get the ball in those 3/4 of the field, Savarino was lost and Bello at times was hungry to attack but he definitely works better as an engine that comes from the bench in the second half to revolutionize the games, an example of this was the game against Ecuador. Batista noticed this and made the adjustment for the final 45 minutes.
The adjustment was the introduction of Casseres for Savarino. The French-based defender gave a little more order to the Vinotinto, more solidity in the midfield when it came to recovering balls and thus giving more tranquility to those up front. The change in the game was radical and instantaneous, Venezuela was different. Aramburu's game was outstanding, the right back was exquisite in the game, he won all his duels, delivered the ball more effectively and was the one who caused the penalty. His present at Real Sociedad is quite good. Salomón Rondón once again played one of his best games, being a star pivot, going down to help, distributing balls to both Soteldo and Bello and having one or two clear chances for the goal.
Not to mention Rafa Romo, who for the second consecutive game has been the team's savior. Yesterday his performance consisted of at least six key saves plus the penalty saved three minutes from the end. This speaks of the good moment of our goalkeeper but also of the defense that despite the results and the good synergy we have, I think it is still our Achilles heel. It is true that we no longer see the mistakes of rookies that we saw before, now there is more cohesion but if we continue to suffer perhaps a little too much always. The conclusion is that thanks to Batista's vision we were able to react and solve a game that was key for us. I want to give credit to the players because they seem to have more and more understanding and above all with a much more winning mentality, which was not the case until a year ago.
The next game is on Sunday against the already eliminated Jamaica. With a draw we will secure the first place but the goal is to go for the nine points. Currently in this Copa America I think it is difficult for me to choose favorites, at the time I said Colombia and Uruguay and I keep it but we must wait for their matches to see if they confirm what I said. Argentina is weak, they have 6 points but with many doubts, it was hard for them to beat Canada and against Chile it was more of the same, besides how controversial that game was. And finally Brazil. Vinicius' players are not even the shadow of what they were, a really poor performance starting with the Real Madrid player who seems that the national team shirt is too big for him, 3 goals in more than 30 games.
In short, Venezuela is on a sweet path, it is not something fleeting or ephemeral, it is real and palpable. Time goes by and we are more convinced that the best is yet to come. So today and more than ever "Mano, I have FAITH".

Seguimos creciendo.
Saludos amigo!
