(ESP-ENG) Una Vinotinto a medias. [OPINIÓN]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.

Yesterday began the FIFA dates around the world and in our case we did it with a view to what will be the Copa America to be held in June. Venezuela faced an elite team, one that is a world champion and current champion of the European Championship, the team coached by Spalletti, the national team of Italy. It is very rare for our team to play against teams that are far above us, but it is undeniable that these opportunities are special because they help us to place ourselves on the world map in terms of the level of soccer we can offer. If Venezuela aspires to go to a World Cup, these are the matches, no matter how friendly they are, which we should take advantage of.
But what happens in the end? - That we continue with the mediocre mentality of thinking that these matches should not be taken seriously because they are for "testing", that the result is not worth so much. Yesterday I got tired of hearing this from the narrators and commentators, an absurdity if you ask me. The national team has the obligation to always go out to win, to compete at the highest level, not to give a ball for lost and to fight every single one of them. But if the press and some fans continue to insist that these matches do not carry as much weight, we will not advance as we would like to. Criticism is always necessary and must be made; throwing flowers even if we get an adverse result does not benefit anyone either.
Yesterday the national team played with a line of three at the back in a kind of 3-4-3. Personally I don't like that formation, I think the Vinotinto plays better with four at the back but I understand that El Bocha wanted to try Jon Aramburu, the Real Sociedad player, who is going through a very sweet moment. For me and for many, he was the best player on the field and by far. A guy who has a mark, an outlet, good ball handling, the truth is that he is a very complete player. In that first half we could have gone ahead on the scoreboard because of a penalty scored to Salomón Rondón and that the same striker was in charge of kicking it and missed it when it was saved by Donnarumma. Nobody wants to miss a penalty, we are clear about that, but Rondón did not hit the ball well and that is the truth.
What I am saying with this is that we have to make these opportunities come true because if this happens in the Copa América or in the qualifiers, the possibility of dropping points is gigantic. La Vinotinto cannot afford to miss and let these chances go. The 23rd also had another one with the goal practically empty and he missed it. We did not lose entirely because of those mistakes, to say that would be petty, but they did influence the result and it is serious that things like that keep happening. The first half was somewhat balanced, Italy pressed when they wanted to and put the goal in danger but nothing convincing, the high mark of the Azzurri prevented our team from getting out, so they appealed to the ball, which was useless.
Along with Aramburu, the other player who made a difference was Darwin Machis, another player who is having a great present. When he had the ball he was always vertical, generating spaces, runs and obviously he was in charge of the 1-1 tie. Otherwise, there was little else to say. The Italian goal came from a mistake by Romo, the same that Donnarumma made. In the second half everything went downhill, Bocha made a few changes with players who had not played for the Vinotinto for a long time, such as Jhonder Cadiz, and the little that was seen was not so bad, but in general the changes did not work at all. The national team got out of sync in the midfield and the Europeans had much more possession of the ball and therefore more danger near our area.
In the end, such was the pressure that Genoa striker Mateo Retegui scored the 1-2. In those second 45 minutes Venezuela showed little to nothing, a couple of isolated counterattacks but little else. Am I happy with what I saw yesterday? - No. The few chances we had, the few we had, should have been converted, but they weren't. I have full confidence in El Bocha. I have full confidence in Bocha Batista but the players have to be more capable of finishing and closing the chances that are generated because otherwise these details can play against us in the future. These players already know each other, enough of saying that the national team is being tested. And finally, I think it would be very wise to call the U-23 players: Ortega, Telasco, Lacava, Kelsy; they are players who could bring a lot of dynamism, change and good things to the functioning of the senior national team.
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!
Feliz jornada. Salud y saludos.
