(ESP-ENG) ¿Un Real Madrid a la deriva? - [Opinión]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
I remember that during Karim Benzema's time at Real Madrid it was said that he and Vinicius did not get along, they barely spoke to each other, that there were differences, but when the definitive “click” occurred on the field they ended up being one of the most infallible and lethal duos in European soccer. This start of the season has certainly not been as expected for Los Blancos, in three games in La Liga they have a couple of draws and one win, but the worrying thing, I think, is not so much the results but what is being seen on the field, the performance of a team that was and is called to be an annihilator of any opponent that is put in front of them.
We can understand that there are teams that go into spurts, it is completely normal and it is more common than you think but what this Madrid at the moment is not that, we are facing a malfunction in several areas of the field that are making it not as effective as it usually does. The first and most obvious is regarding the withdrawal of Toni Kroos. “You don't know what you have until you lose it.” Those are the words that Ancelotti must surely be constantly repeating in his head despite always claiming that he is quite calm and confident about the squad he has. But the reality is different and that is that Los Merengues DO NOT HAVE a replacement for Kroos, it has been proven in these three games. There are good players in the area, yes, but they do not give the security, handling and passing that the German gave.
Modric is a crack, one of the best that Madrid has had in that position, but he is not the solution to the problem, why? because of age and performance, the Croatian is not ready to play full games, I think he could work better if he came on for 25-30 minutes. Valverde is the future, another unmatched player and is perhaps the most similar to Toni but you can also tell he is at least a step below, I am sure he will get to where he is supposed to be but that will be over time and he is also a bit more defensive. Same issue as with Tchouaméni who is getting a sea of criticism. The thing about the Frenchman is that he's not the kind of player who will stand in the center circle and start leaking balls, he's clearly defensive, he's a Casemiro-like containment player for example, so these complaints to me are nonsense.
But what is it then that this team should be criticized for? - Although Ancelotti says otherwise, I think it's a matter of attitude, of being connected, of being plugged in (as one Spanish newspaper headlines). The first half against Las Palmas this past week was proof of that. Many walked, they were very passive, the marking wasn't hard, they didn't run the ball; it was one of the worst 45 minutes Madrid has ever seen. The goal of the Canaries was a product of that, Moleiro passed under the noses of Tchouaméni and Rudiger and they didn't even put their legs or bodies in. There is no intensity. And these problems end up having repercussions in the offensive part because, yes, there are more problems up there.
I have been saying it, the heat map of the attack that they put on the transmissions is always red on the left side and that is a problem, there is a brutal imbalance of the field. Vinicius and Mbappe go on that side because that is the natural of the two, how is it effective that way? - is the big question. Hence in matches we see certain exchanges of words between the two and it's normal, they are opposing positions and there is no fluidity or surprise. And not to mention that they only have a pure 9 of area, Endrick and that is still more shadows than lights. The solution is simple: get Camavinga and Bellingham as fast as possible. The absence of this pair on the pitch is very noticeable.
I think this Madrid will be the same club as always, it is a matter of time before Mbappe and Vinicius find their place on the field and when that happens I predict that they will be unstoppable, as Benzema and the Brazilian once were. As for the midfield, polish what there is and above all trust, if there is someone who is capable of managing a locker room and make it worth it is Carletto. It is very normal that in complicated times criticism rains down, it happens to everyone. They are 4 points behind leaders Barcelona, who have already gone through this storm and now seem to be slowly getting back on track. So, is Madrid adrift? - Looking at things a little bit, yes, but it will not be for long.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!
Saludos, amigo!
