(ESP-ENG) Tres puntos y a respirar!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
A new day in the most difficult qualifying rounds in the world, we are already in the second date and although the road is very long, we are beginning to suffer more than necessary and yesterday's match against Paraguay was literally not suitable for people with a weak heart. The need for the Vinotinto to score was mandatory, the locality factor had to be respected and the three points that would give us a breath of fresh air after the blow of losing in Barranquilla last Thursday had to be sought at all costs. The Monumental of the city of Maturín responded as expected, without being present it was evident that the atmosphere was spectacular and that is something to be valued in view of what is to come and above all to let the players know that the people still keep their hopes intact.
After yesterday's results we are fifth in the standings with three points, a golden and privileged position considering the rivals coming up in October. Yesterday Bolivia lost again against the world champions by 3-0, Ecuador, which we were hoping to lose, ended up coming from behind against Uruguay to win 2-1, Peru lost to Brazil and Chile could only draw with Colombia. All of yesterday's results, with the exception of Ecuador's, went our way. But it was clear that more than looking at the others, we had to do our homework against Paraguay, which in my opinion is one of the teams that are direct rivals, they are those that will fight at the bottom of the table to qualify and having beaten them is something that will be valued later on.
El "Bocha", faced with the obvious need, made a change of scheme and at the same time made several substitutions with respect to the eleven that played against Colombia. Miguel Navarro for Mago on the left side, Rincón, Machís and Savarino were replaced by Samuel Sosa on the right flank, Soteldo on the other side and Josef up top accompanying Rondón, that is to say, from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 with the two wingers up top. Undoubtedly, it was a very offensive Venezuela and that was noticeable from the first minutes of the game. There are several points to highlight with respect to what I saw yesterday. The first one is that I think we finally got a natural left back, the game of 15, Miguel Navarro, was very good, the Chicago Fire player showed that he is more than fit to be the undisputed starter in that position, he covered the area well, defended as much as he could, recovered balls, held Almiron correctly, very pleased with him. This means that finally we will not see Rosales, whose time for me is over with the national team.
Yangel Herrera is currently the best player in the national team, the one who is in the best shape, he made it clear on Thursday and yesterday. In the first half the Vinotinto worked well and it was largely because the ball passed through the boots of the player from Girona, he is the one who pulls the strings in the midfield, recovers when it is necessary and distributes the game to the flanks, in addition to the fact that the clearest chances were also caused by him. Rincón is sometimes necessary but I think the midfield has to be the same as yesterday, Brujo Martínez and Yangel make a very good duo, they complement each other perfectly, hence the Vinotinto did not have so many defensive setbacks.
Another player who worked was Samuel Sosa on the right side, I think he did a little more than Machís despite the good condition of the Cádiz player. The incursions on that right flank generated danger in the first half, they managed to destabilize the Paraguayan defensive block a bit. Now, the issue was the following: everything was very good up to the 3/4 of the field, what the national team lacked yesterday was the last connection with the two strikers, neither Josef nor Salomón had a one-on-one, both Soteldo and Sosa arrived but that final pass never came and that is where they have to improve a little, the dominance must be capitalized and the Vinotinto dominated Paraguay in the first half with ball possession but did not go beyond that.
We must applaud the defense, one of Venezuela's weak points. It is true that when you lose the ball you suffer a lot, in the second half we realized that Paraguay came out to press with everything, the defense was always compact and united as a block, they did not leave gaps or lapses and that, my friends, although it sounds very obvious, is one of the things I see that have improved a little. I was talking about the second half and yes, the performance dropped a little, Yangel did not have the ball as much, Sosa lost explosiveness as well as Soteldo and that is when Sergio Córdova came in, who was looking to vindicate himself with the national team and I feel he did it, he was very vertical and direct, he went into space and generated hand to hand, this is also another good news.
But above all and most importantly, it is the grit and spirit seen in these first two days. If there is something that I have always been critical of this team is that what they showed on the field did not correspond to the needs we had, always crestfallen, without putting heart, they lowered their arms quickly, they stopped running and fighting for the balls, that my dear has not been seen in these two games. On the contrary, I believe that the attitude has been excellent and the reason why today we can say that there is truly a palpable change both on and off the field, yesterday's three points were largely due to the fact that we did not stop fighting, they are the proof that every effort has its reward.
I am happy for the coaching staff, I believe that "Bocha" Batista is doing a good job, it is reflected on the field, we said that it would not happen overnight and I feel that it is only now that it is beginning to be seen and therefore the players are understanding everything. In a month we will see each other again, we will play against Brazil as visitors and against Chile as locals again in Maturin. The opportunity here is to get a good result against Berizzo's Roja since they are not doing well, something similar happens with Colombia, they are not that team that was scary, the issue with the Chileans is that the generation of relief is not that good and capable of replacing Vidal, Sanchez, Medel, etc. We will see, but for the moment we will enjoy the fifth place and the good performance of our team yesterday. They were three points that made us breathe again...
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!

Navarro y González dos máquinas en esa defensa, mas los centrales que no cometieron el error de Colombia, que bonita respuesta la de la gente en las tribunas pintándolas del tricolor nacional y vinotinto, para el recuerdo y el ejemplo.
