Este fin de semana pudieron haber pasado cosas en el fútbol de Inglaterra que hicieran que la Premier terminara más apretada de lo que quedó pero finalmente terminó ocurriendo lo que yo pensaría nadie esperaba dado el contexto y los equipos que se veían las caras. El Manchester City y el Arsenal se midieron en el Etihad para buscar definir un poco la tabla de posiciones, ganando el City se colocaba a un punto del líder, Liverpool, o si ganaba los dirigidos por Arteta igualarían la línea de los de Klopp; ni una cosa ni la otra, al final todo resultó en un triste empate en el que para mi fue un encuentro que nos quedó a deber bastante.

Un ingrediente que se le podía añadir a toda la atmósfera es que ambos sabían el resultado del Liverpool que había ganado su respectivo partido ante el Brigthon por 2-1, los de Klopp les tocó remontar el gol de Welbeck a los dos minutos con par de anotaciones de Luis Díaz, quien está en un estado de gracia, y del siempre presente y eficaz Mohamed Salah. Con esto el Liverpool alcanzaba los 67 puntos a la espera de lo que hicieran sus más cercanos perseguidores. En lo personal las expectativas que tenía con este partido del día de ayer eran altas, era una oportunidad de dar un golpe sobre la mesa y apretar más de lo que está la clasificación pero conforme se fue dando el partido todo se fue diluyendo en un juego espeso que terminó apenas con tres tiros al arco.

Uno de los atractivos más importantes que tuvo ese partido fue la lucha de los dos grandes centrales del Arsenal, Saliba - Gabriel con el todopoderoso Haaland. El noruego no le pegó ni una vez al arco, estuvo anulado prácticamente todo el encuentro gracias a que estos dos jugadores se encargaron de que así sucediera. Yo tengo un problema con Haaland y es que es demasiado nueve para mi, ¿en que sentido? - pues que es un tipo que no lo veo buscando los balones, a él le tiene que caer la pelota al pie para empujarla al fondo de la red. Si, esa forma es lo que ha hecho que tenga la cantidad de goles que posee, pero no deja de ser poco atractivo y hasta menos efectivo. Y miren que es complicado no hacer goles en este City con jugadores como De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva y Foden merodeando el área pero acá hay que decir que todo esto fue mérito del Arsenal.

El partido comenzaba y el balón siempre estuvo al mando del City, con la posesión característica de Guardiola y su presión alta siempre tuvieron el control del partido y es que estamos hablando que la tenencia de la pelota por parte de los Gunners fue de menos del 30%. Pero esto es normal porque la manera de jugar de ellos es así, a la contra, esperar el despiste y el retroceso del rival para que a través de los costados con Declan Rice y el noruego Ødegaard explotar el ataque para lograr las conexiones arriba con Saka y la cobra Havertz. El tema es que al frente tenían un equipo que es muy bueno defendiendo a pesar de ciertas bajas que tienen en el plantel, entre ellas Aké que salió en el primer tiempo por una molestia en el gemelo.

La realidad es que fue un partido muy táctico, hay que recordar que Arteta fue por muchos años ayudante de Guardiola por lo que la escuela que tuvo es de las mejores y que en la cancha se puede notar esa influencia. Todo, o casi todo, se jugó en media cancha hasta que el City decidía apretar un poco más el acelerador pero tampoco sin generar nada de peligro, Raya tuvo una tarde tranquila. Fue un juego muy horizontal, esos donde la posesión es abismal pero en el que no habían huecos para el pase filtrado de ahí que Haaland fuera un espectador más. Hubiese esperado a Julián Álvarez, teniendo en cuenta lo diferente que es al noruego, quizás el argentino siendo más irreverente podía buscar más las jugadas y generar más peligro pero no fue así, Pep no quiso arriesgar mucho.

Como dije el Arsenal lo que hizo en gran parte del partido es correr detrás del balón pero con una defensa muy férrea, creo que es la mejor de la Premier ya que es el equipo menos goleado de la liga así no es cualquier cosa. Puntos a favor es que Rodri está en otro nivel, ese jugador ve el fútbol de otra manera, lo ve a una velocidad que no lo puede hacer cualquier otro mortal; y por el lado del Arsenal creo que fue un desacierto el partido de Jorginho, el jugador italiano si mal no recuerdo casi no la tocó en el primer tiempo cuando por la posición en la que estuvo alineado era de esperarse que fuese más decisivo.

Al final nadie se hizo daño, fue un partido soso, trabado, en donde las ocasiones y las emociones quedaron a deber. Esto hace que la Premier quede más abierta que nunca al punto de que faltando 7 fechas nada está escrito aún y es que entre el tercero y el líder hay apenas tres puntos de ventaja. Es crucial no perder para ninguno y viendo el calendario restante es posible que al Arsenal lo tenga un poco más complicado de los tres. Esto será emocionante hasta la fecha 38, veremos qué nos depara la mejor liga del mundo de aquí a allá.

Buenos comentarios sobre fútbol, estimado @javyeslava.photo . Nos llevas al sitio del juego, como si estuvieras en tus narrativas directo desde tan lejos, en Inglaterra. Me recuerdas, cuando fuí a un juego en Sao Paulo-Brasil, a ver al Rey Pelé, todo era tan pequeño desde donde estaba ubicado, que no me quedó de otra que escuchar el juego desde un radiecito de pilas, que tenía un amigo, pues no veía a los jugadores desde las gradas. Así fue amigo en Sao Paulo de Brasil, en el año 1972, aspiraba estudiar en el citado pais, antes de venirme a Venezuela, me fui al estadio, recuerdo jugaban Santos (Equipo de Pelé) contra Palmeira, bueno fue un momento muy feliz de joven, apenas yo tenía 21 años de edad. Ciertamente fue un partido aburrido o con pocas emociones, este resultado nadie se lo esperaba dado el gran nivel de ambos equipos, pero en líneas generales la Premier League se mantiene caliente y a la expectativa de quien ganará el título, yo en lo particular no lo tengo claro.
