Hello friends, good vibes to all.
December 10, 2023, a day in which the Spanish League could take a turn, for many unexpected for others not so much, and it is that a Catalan team, perhaps not the strongest and most recognized of those in first division, assaulted in a masterful way and showing a soccer of the highest level the leadership of the championship. And as you can read, the current leader is not Real Madrid or even less Barcelona, it is Girona, the team of our vinotinto Yangel Herrera, who is currently injured. Yesterday, several things could have happened: Madrid could have stayed in the lead despite their slip against Betis, Barca could have cut points with respect to the top two or Girona could have pulled away from their pursuers, which is what ended up happening in the end.
What Sánchez Muñoz's players have done is not by chance, nor is it the result of luck or the circumstances of the game; it is the product of an idea, of a style that has gradually been instilled in these players. Elements such as forcefulness, never giving up, having the ball and moving it from side to side, knowing how to see and look for spaces and above all pressuring the rival are what have made Girona to be currently alone at the top with 41 points, two points behind Los Merengues and 7 points behind Barca, a team that was beaten yesterday despite the make-up that Xavi always pretends to give in press conferences.
Some of the Catalan coach's words were: "We did things right, the game was very even, if Barca won today it would have been fair". I really don't understand what games Xavi sees, I don't know if it's hard for him to take the blame but it's not the first time that self-criticism is not very good for him. It is true that he also said that Barcelona was a team "under construction", but I don't know if that can continue to be an excuse given the squad they have. And Barca has a great squad, depleted by injuries, yes, but man for man is a top team and when almost all the players are on the court it seems that the team has a hard time walking.
The match started and everything seemed to be neck and neck, but soon we would see that it was not that way. What surprises me is Girona's verticality, they are a team that doesn't waste time; the first goal was an example of that. A pass to the hole so that Christensen was unable to arrive and in the absence of Cancelo because he was turned to attack, there was a highway for the Ukrainian Tsyhankov to run and assist his compatriot Dovbyk. It was a great goal because it showed Barca's bad backline and, as I already mentioned, the forcefulness of a fast team. With this 1-0 goal, the ghosts began to wander in Barcelona.
Girona's second goal for me was the best of the match. It is worrying to see Barca play the ball so much in the midfield and see so much passivity and zero intention to score. But this is more to the rival's credit because it tells us how good they are with the ball, the adherence that exists as a team and the confidence that exists in those ranks. Miguel Gutiérrez scored the 1-2, a goal in which the blaugrana defense opened up like a dead sea when Moisés parted the waters, a complete red carpet was left for the winger to enter and calmly beat Peña with his left foot, who could do nothing. Yes, Girona's creation and impetus is brutal but Barca's defense is a total tear.
And well, let's not talk about the third goal because if the second one was a disaster, what can we say about this one. Araujo for me is a top 3 center back in the world but it is true that yesterday he had a complicated night. That Stuani beats him so easily up top and then Valery Fernandez leaves Kounde in a mess tells us that things are not going very well. A long ball from the goalkeeper's kick and then with one more touch the goal was scored; if that is not knowing how to make the most of the opponent's capabilities and mistakes, I don't know what is. Girona won 1-3 with clarity, knowing what they were playing for and dominating Barca line by line, who at times were trying to do something.
Girona's fourth goal, scored by Uruguayan Cristhian Stuani. Barca a minute earlier had cut the lead 2-3 with a goal by Gündoğan after a good combination and touches but that was not all Girona had to give. Again the mischief of some and the excessive passivity of others set the trend. An area full of Blaugrana shirts against three, if my mind does not fail me, of Girona could not against the arrival of the Uruguayan striker and the previous play that allowed the cross. With this any intention of Barca to tie, or even win, was liquidated. A 2-4 that is a mark of a team that in the whole season has lost only one game, has won 13 of 16 games and has scored the most goals with 38. It is no coincidence, it is not luck, it is play, it is ideas, it is intention and good management but even more forcefulness and showiness. Girona is more of a leader than ever and playing better than any team in Spain.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.

Gracias amigo, saludos!!
