(ESP-ENG) Cambios en el horizonte.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Soccer is usually a sport that remains as stable as possible when the different leagues and competitions are taking place, there are signings but within a certain time frame. But then, what happens when the news that shakes the sporting panorama is not related to the players but to their coaches. Well, that is the scenario we currently have and not with one team or two, but with three big clubs whose coaches have already announced that they will leave their posts at the end of the season. Two of them, I assume, because they intend to seek new challenges and the other because their project simply cannot go on any longer.
Jürgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool after 9 years, Mikel Arteta is leaving Arsenal after 5 years or so and Xavi is leaving Barcelona after just over 2 years. Each and every one of these news are surprising but perfectly understandable; at least to the Premier League coaches I am sure that the offers will not take long to arrive if they do not already have an agreement under the table. For his part I do not deny that Xavi has his girlfriends out there too but in his case I do not think he is thinking about that at the moment, I think his ultimate intention is to leave as best as possible to a Barcelona that is in a real crisis.
Xavi's departure is for "love of the club", as I said the blaugranas are immersed in a crisis of play and results that accelerated with the weekend match against Villarreal where after an apparent comeback in the last minutes of the game they ended up conceding 3 goals to annihilate any sense of improvement, the final result was 3-5. La Xavineta started with a bit of a shock, as I remember they did not start in the best way but last season they won two titles: the League and the Supercopa de España. This made us believe that they were on the right track but this season has been especially hard; no Supercopa, no Copa del Rey, far away in the League and there is still the Champions League which does not look too good either.
Xavi has never been able to find the ideal team, always in each game is a different eleven where very few are those who perform. The defense is an absolute chaos, Iñaki Peña unfortunately is not up to the task, neither are the midfielders because Oriol Romeu has been a waste of money, Gündoğan plays well when he wants to and Lewandowski is divorced and fighting with the striker he was a couple of years ago. The reality is that there is a disconnect in all lines that has not been solved so far this season and that is something that Xavi either knows or doesn't know and from where his decision to leave the club of his life stems. Personally I find this decision strange but I understand that it is in order for the team to play without pressure knowing that one of the culprits is going to pay, whatever happens at the end of the season.
When the river sounds it's because it brings stones. I don't like to echo rumors but in the last few hours information has spread that Arteta is likely to leave Arsenal, another club he considers to be the club of his love, at the end of the season. Personally I was very surprised by the news because Arsenal with Mikel is a team that works perfectly well, he is a coach who has won 3 titles and the most important thing is that he is very loved by the Gunner fans. Last season they were on the verge of winning the Premier League and this season they are in third place, five points behind Liverpool, the leading club.
I find it hard to believe that Arteta will leave Arsenal, I honestly don't think so since it has just transpired as I write this that his intention is to fulfill the contract he has left in England. But in case there is some truth behind this news, he is already being linked with Barcelona since Xavi's departure is definitive as of June. If you ask me if there is anything else that Arteta can do with this Arsenal I would say yes, I think they could win the Premier League, the issue is that they always stay halfway, the Gunners are not a winning team, historically they have not been so that chip is difficult to remove; I think that with the Spaniard and despite the years he has been at the club it is feasible to win something really important.
Jürgen Klopp is a guy who has won everything with Liverpool, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, English Super Cup, League Cup, etc. He is one of the most complete coaches in soccer today, tactical and with an overwhelming personality. He leaves Anfield after 9 years as his home because we imagine that he wants another kind of challenge, but one outside England. He made it clear that the pressure of the Premiership is abysmal and he needs some time off and that it is very difficult to see him managing any other club than Liverpool, the club he is married to for life. In fact, in yesterday's FA Cup match against Norwich the crowd let him know the affection and respect they feel for the German by singing the famous You'll Never Walk Alone.
The void that Klopp will leave on the bench will be big but it will be even bigger when he arrives at his next destination. Destination that is not known what it will be but I'm sure it will be a big European team or probably a national team, many do not opt for that option but I see it very viable. Liverpool is leading the Premier League, surprisingly they climbed to that position after the ups and downs of City and Aston Villa. There is a long way to go but it would be very cool if their last title is a Premiership, it is very possible seeing how they are doing so we will have to wait.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!
I havent follow futbol that much this last season just a few games here and there but didnt know Barcelona situation was this critical, as a fact last season that I did follow it was been said that this was suppose the season they would improve and do a better job at Champions keeping the same performance or better on the other tournaments, Xavi and his team were looking good but seems everything crumble down in a matter of a few months, sad he is going away, I remember him from the times of MSN, those were good times 👍
Yes, the situation is quite critical to the point that there is almost no chance of winning anything at all. Xavi has lost everything and the team that was last season is almost non-existent as far as playing style is concerned.
Veremos a dónde cae.
Saludos!!
