an afternoon of food and wine : April 13 2025
rain! the weather over here is as fickle as a child's mind. yesterday the sun was so good, now the rain was so bad. not really that bad but enough to take our your umbrellas and get you wet without one. i found this scene near home where a man was outside with an umbrella just to have a smoke. no weather could stop this one from having a stick of cigarette.
train ride
so that lunch time, the housemates all decided to eat out in kita senju, a place 2 stations away. one was craving for lasagna but we couldn't find one near us. so we settled for something fancy instead.
on the way, our train had an emergency stop on a bridge going there. nothing to be alarmed, it was surely for safety reasons. probably a schedule issue or what, but that gave me the opportunity to take a picture from this river. that bridge over there was a familiar one that i always used during my nightwalks. it would have been better if the sky was better.
now here is what it looked like on the bridge itself, it was only for trains, i believe. but then those beams really looked reassuring. i immediately grabbed my phone and took a picture of these, it was a chance to document what was on top. i think i already took a picture of what was under this.
and of course, i also took a picture when a train passed by. nothing very clear, as expected. train speeds are just to fast to be captured clearly by my phone with a limited shutter speed. but it still looked fine, looked ok for the purpose of the picture. it was supposed to be a moment in time of a fast object from an observer's point of view.
bistro 2538
here was the fancy place we went into. it was fancy to my eyes at least because it was quite pricey. but you may argue that that this price was expected for a semi course of salad, main dish, and dessert, and a hefty amount of bread. you can have so alcoholic beverage in here as well and the other tables indeed ordered some wine to go with the meal.
the salad had the usual leafy greens and some shrimps, a meat loaf like food, and a mini corn dog. corn dogs are called american dogs in japan, by the way. and the bread basket was immediately provided. now the main dish was what you order from the shop, and they had four choices per day. i ordered the very tender roast beef option and that came with a portion of mashed potato. and that was our second basket by the way, it went well with the sauce of the roast beef.
and finally, the dessert. a scoop of ice cream and a macaron. now, we were arguing for a bit on the flavor of the ice cream, i really thought that it had something to do with coffee. it was caramel. all of that was 1600 yen (a little over 11 usd), not bad right?
the winery
nah, i just loved how they displayed all these bottles. no hard liquor was bought, but loved the colorful display. i bought a bottle of wine in the end, just a cheap and sweet one. at another shop i also bought coffee grounds. there was really not much to do, i would have wanted to go home on foot but this drizzle was really a bummer.
here was the last picture i took in that area. the gloomy day proved to be difficult to win over. it would have been a perfect day, the food was great and even that unexpected train stop was ok. this rain was the only problem.
i had a treadmill walk that night for all the unaccomplished walking for the day. oh well, AMPING KANUNAY!
stay dry!

For a rainy day, you made good use of the weather to score points. I hope you didn't get wet, or get the flu as a result of the weather.
thanks. i'm fine. i did use an umbrella while outside.
A treadmill walk is that good way to deal with the rainy day my friend, a great way to get healthy on a rainy day!!!😀
and now i got hooked to a show. i'll probably have more treadmill sessions soon because of that
