from short to long to philosophical : April 11 2025
so this was the representative photo for the walk. taken at Senju Ōhashi Bridge (千住大橋) as i crossed the sumida river. i just loved how the lights complimented the steel framework which contrasted well with the dark sky.
for starters, it was drizzling the whole afternoon. and that was also according to the weather forecast. as i was about to log off from work, i felt bad that once again rain has stopped my nightwalk. so just to have so cardio for tonight, i drafted a very simple plan which involved going to the groceries. i was to go to the busy town to the north to buy desserts, then comeback south to buy some laundry fabric conditioner, then head further south to be some chocolate covered almond for easy snacks.
this bicycle park was near the busy district up north. just loved how much of a bicycle country japan is, they take trains from far places, and ride their bikes parked near train stations to reach their homes. that is what happens when your public transportation works, no need for cars.
back t the story, i actually brought a big umbrella this time. but as i was walking, i just noticed that the drizzles have stopped. i never got to open my umbrella to be honest. but i do not want to take chances yet again, yesterday was such a big lesson learned.
i eventually got to the dessert shop and brought some pastries. but it was just such a shame to come back that quick, so i took this a chance to change course. i decided to walk by the river banks, it was a bit chilly.
they also had some cherry blossoms on this bank, the leaves have now started to grow. i particularly love it when these trees both show flowers and leaves, i just loved the contrast of the white and green. it looked like a bouquet for a wedding, at least to me. i don't know if you see it the way i see it though.
so i just continued to walk along this route until i finally reached the bridge area (the first pic). it was then when i decided to cross the bridge and head further north. i knew that a grocery store branch was also operating near the kita senju area.
now this has completely turned into a full nightwalk. quite spontaneous and quite surprising. by now i must have featured this side of the district multiple times, nothing new really. there are no vegetation over here, no seasonal greens for sure. all shops, and nothing ran out of business. not that i was hoping for that to happen though.
bought the fabric conditioner, and chocolates initially planned. bought shoe insoles as well. apparently, the insoles of my wet shoes yesterday was pretty worn out, it was time to replace those after they completely dry out.
i loved this park's picture too. i loved how the sky contrasted the greens. the park was deserted though, so different to how it usually was in the afternoon when children often come here and play.
this got me back to a question i somehow blurted to my housemate this afternoon, does he think like he is already an adult? because i honestly don't think you outgrow your child thoughts at all. people may think differently at times but i think a portion of their thoughts remains like that of a child: naive, immature, wants to have fun, sometimes afraid to try something new, just wants to have a simple life without stress or worries. i have talked to my titos and titas before and they admitted that they may have learned through the years but their thought patterns were still the same like when they were younger. i guess no one really knows how it is to be an adult, you know that you have some responsibilities but yet remain to be a child, an older child each year. i don't know, i am still a child.
sorry that got deep for a minute.
the nightwalk ended with the course leading back to the same stretch of road where i bought the dessert pastries. and look at the shape formed by my path, it looked like a flag! my housemate said that i should have formed the philippine flag with my steps. i immediately responded that it would be impossible as our flag had a triangle at the mast side, that would mean that i would have to swim the river to create that. but this route was totally unplanned. i saw some videos where people created art with their walk routes i don't think i have the energy to do that. unless someone create a route for me where i only have to follow then who knows.

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

Shoe insoles can make all the difference in comfort during the night walks my friend!👍😀
Unfortunately I found it a lot of insoles cost almost as much as shoes over here.....🙄
Enjoy the weekend my friend!!😀

Kind of sad my friend that’s usually what we do. We buy new shoes, insoles are expensive over here!
