walking in the rain : March 29 2025

rain fell as soon as midnight came, at least my hanami or cherry blossom viewing last night was not spoiled. that would have been a very bad friday night if it did rain. but then rain continued the whole day, no stopping at all. it was a drizzle the whole day.

let me give you a quick update. (all my creative juices were flushed down with the rain, sadly.)

early morning i went out to buy breakfast and this lone sakura tree along the way was finally in full bloom. i found that interesting with the bicycles parked beside it.

the afternoon came and it was still drizzling none stop. i was planning to buy a new plant in ikebukuro, so i started my walk a bit earlier. i brought an umbrella with me just in case the rain grow stronger.

the tram path looked extra gloomy. that sky was an energy drainer and that affected my mood as well. i was extra tired.

i met this flowering tree, it was not a cherry blossom. those big flowers would never be confused with any sakura variety. we had this same tree near my apartment but that has long shed its flowers. i wonder what took these trees to bloom over here.

then this shrine came in to view. it looked like a simple alter but this was a full fledged shrine on its own for sure. shrines in japan does not depend on size, anything believed to house a god can be a shrine. by the looks of it, this one with an incense and an offering is a shrine.

my way to ikebukuro was on the shortest possible path. and that meant that i was passing through tiny alleys between houses. that could be scary but good thing i started earlier, daylight made it less scary.

i was nearing my destination, and a sakura tree greeted me once again. oh no! i swore to myself not to take more pictures of this flowers after the bombardment that happened in the last post. my photo gallery was so full of sakura pictures.

i finally reached a familiar place and went straight to the supposed building of the plant shop. walking endlessly trying to find the usual entrance. nopes! i can't! i went out to the streets and entered the building from there. of no, that building is under renovation. the plant shop was in the rooftop and that seems accessible though, but how? i was walking for 30 minutes and all roads were blocked. i just can't proceed tot he rooftop. i guess it was time to give up. i went home with no plants to add to my family.
