shopping spree : November 22 2024

i knew i am supposed to go out for my nightwalk today, i knew there was something special somewhere. but the problem is, i totally forgot what that thing was. as i was walking the night away, i searched for possible events happening.

there was a fair in ueno about ninjas this friday to sunday. but i am pretty sure the shops will be closed the moment i reach the venue. pretty interesting but i'm pretty sure that was not it.

i knew that the festival i attended last time, tori no ichi, will have its third day of festivities soon. i know i would like to attend one more day, but is it today? hmmm. searched while walking, oh no. not today, but next week.

hmm, what could that be?

i was walking further until it struck me, uniqlo anniversary sale! and so the goal was set, to the uniqlo store it is.

faster faster faster i went. it was a new route this time, i already passed by my normal route before i could decide where to go. it was a cold night, sure it was. but my trip tomorrow will be more cold, today is but a dry run.

reached the store finally and checked for the sale items, it was an anniversary so i was expecting more items with the red tags (i suppose red is the universal color for sale tags). went around the shop and was utterly disappointed, there was not much. i had a jacket in mind, but it was not even on display. i guess it was only sold on autumn. my mood got down. i bought shirts with heat technology instead, it will still be useful for this winter.

anyways, here were the pictures i took for the day.

Shinshō-ji
真正寺

there was nothing much written about the place except that there was a monzenmachi. so the uneducated me wondered what that term was?

The term monzenmachi means “gate-front town” and refers to settlements established near the entrance gates of important shrines or temples.

shopping street

this was a shopping street beside the railroad. just loved how this charcoal grill shop had a lantern outside even when the aisle is so narrow. i guess lanterns are necessary for grilled meat shops.

to my surprise, there was a small shrine just outside of the shopping street. shrines do come in many sizes, this was a mini version. at least they preserved the altar.

i just remembered an old anime, noragami, about a god with small powers. he was the god of a very small shrine and had few worshippers; thus, the small powers. the god of this small shrine must have small powers as well.

the alley

this small way beside the train was the new trail i tried. there was one historical marker before it talking about an old road. but i am pretty sure it was not this road.
