the nightwalker on how fleeting life is : September 5 2024
i had a very short walk today and i was just happy i took that walk no matter how short it was. there were just some things up my mind that i had to think through, needed to reflect about something i unfortunately had caught wind of. i received a heavy news that a colleague of mine has decided to un-alive himself (sorry for the term but i am not sure if topics like this is allowed in hive). i personally do not know the person, but the mere fact that we are working in the same company, possibly interacted with the same people, bothered me a lot.
i have always valued life and have always believed of its sanctity. i think i was raised to be this way, and i continue to believe that taking my own life is something i would not even consider. i hope most of my readers also share the same sentiments as mine, it is just depressing to hear news of this nature. it makes me think and reflect, and walking does help.
reasons may vary as much as the grains of sand on a beach, but i guess no one will ever have that thought unless they are unhappy with the current situation. it may be due to problems, or due to ideals not reached, but people who are under a lot of stress i think are the most vulnerable. i am in no position to deny a person from feeling that way, but my own mind tells me that a problem, no matter how big, is solvable. it may not dissipate completely in one day, but taking several days or even years to fix things is not something to be ashamed of. sometimes, things are not instant and we just have to accept that fact.
life goals are also not perfect and having no goal, although difficult to grasp by some, can also work just fine. like the field above, life is wide; although you see your goal, sometimes you just miss and walk past. but that is definitely not the end, you can always try again. or if that really does not work, you can always make and see a new goal post in the distance and probably aim for that the next time.
but please, when you think you can't solve it on your own, please seek help. if you believe in a supreme being then go talk to him and ask for guidance. talk with your friends. if your friends don't respond, then find another friend, or relative, or even a doctor. don't just stop with few friends when they don't respond, try talking to more. talk it out. letting out your emotions helps. just do not get discouraged.
saw the face of that colleague, his smile looked joyful. he was a family man and was still so young. some people are just so good at hiding their pain and suffering. probably it is best to ask people around you how they are feeling today. sometimes, a small compassion can prompt people to talk. and sometime people just need someone to listen. sometimes a simple hi and hello is all they need to keep on living. if only someone around this colleague have asked... i wonder how guilty his friends could have felt when they learned of the news. what if he contacted me, although very unlikely, could that have changed a thing? if someone did contact me about a problem, would i be compassionate enough to listen? i really don't know. i guess instances like these will teach me how to respond in the future. compassion is not a strong suit of mine, but i will just have to try.
sorry for having such a morose topic but if this is what it takes to save lives then it has achieved its goal.
so how are you guys?
i really hope you are all doing fine.

I sure hope that person finds the right help before they take any action. What a horrible topic to mull over while walking. It must have made the walk a little less enjoyable.
It seems to me, based on your posts, that you are a compassionate person and would be there when someone like that needed you.
i passed by so many houses, that did not keep my thoughts away from the topic at all.
i sure hope to be have more compassion if ever it does happen.
So sorry to hear about your friend..........😲
We had a close friend that had a terrible accident where a trailer fell on him and paralyzed him for life. One day got news from his wife, that he had taken his life.
He left a Wife and several children, and grandchildren.... so very sad!

So very true my friend…….🙄
I guess we can never understand what state of mind they are in …….
