i had no plans at hand for the cardio activity tonight. it is one of those days where i just want to sleep in comfortably. if not for my gym buddy who said that we go, i would have just stared into nothingness and transported to dream world. i am just glad that at least one of us is motivated. gym life would be harder if both of us were not feeling it. this is how our gym looks like by the way. that is the weights area basically, the cardio area is around the front part of the gym.
and since we decided to go for leg day, i went for a quick cardio workout beforehand. a light walk would do, just look at the 3 lighted rows below, that was equivalent to a level 5: not much inclination.
the show on the tv was quite fitting to me actually, 2 teams of three members were to tasked to reach certain pitstops (just like the amazing race) out in hokkaido. but these teams were given money depending on their step count, each step was worth 1 yen. the teams were only allowed to use phones for calls and pictures, no searching allowed. for navigation, they were given the old school maps. now that is a challenge, they have to find the best approach on when to walk, and when to use their limited money.
one team mistakenly judged their walking distance, he forgot to check the map's scale. the other team forgot to turn on the pedometer, now that was harsh; that would have been cash. it was so fun watching the show.
if this would also apply to real life, i would have walked more distances.
i went home and prepared for the leg day routine. i was too sweaty, i had to change clothes. cardio makes me sweat a lot. went back to the gym on totally different clothes, the gym coach must have wondered why i was there again on a different outfit. well, its not against the rules so i should be fine.
the leg day workout went as follows. of course, i was still careful with my knee. although the doctor did not prohibit any exercise, i still need to make sure i properly stretch and do a warm up.
pull ups (12 x 10)
squats (70kg x 3 x 12)
dead lift (50kg x 3 x 12)
lunges (25kg x 3 x 12 per leg)
bulgarian split squat (25kg x 2 x 12 per leg)
leg extensions (59kg x 4 x 10)
calf extension(135kg x 3 x 12)
leg curls (36kg x 3 x 12)
of course those were the ideal, the actual counts were probably lower. it was just hard to be at your best when parts of your body are still healing.
i'll leave you with this pan fried omelet-like food i had for lunch. it is a mixture of shredded cabbage, chinese chives (nira), bell pepper, and egg. that easy to make. its probably healthy too, just lessen the oil used.
