happy walks and happy cooking: June 11 2024
night walks
it is time to explore the neighborhood once again and the plan was to go towards the river yet again. i had to pass through our local city park and took this picture above. that is a fountain but they turn it off at night so it has been ages since the last time i saw it flowing. i am just glad that a sizeable park is within reach so whenever i feel down there is always this option.
onwards i proceeded riverbound. i had plans to revisit the large grocery / department store and explore the cosmetics and skin care sections in the 2nd floor. my housemate shared that they had quite an extensive range of products over there. i ended up buying a shampoo applicator / massager and a hair spray. there were a couple of notable products like that under eye cream and a sugar scrub but decided to postpone the purchase.
so off i proceeded to the riverside and walk past the previous end point. you may refer to my previous entry regarding that in here.

i went down the banks. the breeze was nice, i wouldn't say it was fresh though. i am in tokyo and we all know that fresh is not one of the adjectives we use to describe city air. it was calm and silent though which was so relaxing. though wide, i only saw few people pass by. peaceful! my mind went off meandering for a bit like this river.
all of this was disturbed by train sounds. i was nearing what i initially thought was a bridge for cars but it was actually a bridge for the train. it really was so dark and the train moved too fast to capture a decent photo. i could only capture the lights reflected on the water.

home cooking
earlier that day, i actually cooked food for the week. it wasn't much at first, or so i thought. there was too much after cutting the ingredients. my plan was to cook these ala afritada style. however, i replaced potato with white turnip and included the stalks for more veggies. i also decided to add mushrooms for additional protein.
you basically just need to saute the ingredients
add in water and tomato sauce
let it boil until tender
add salt to taste
simple, isn't it. and the dish is done!
we ended up going to the gym today for arms and shoulders. my chest were still sore from the gym two days prior and that made it extra hard today.
- pull-ups (12 x 10)
- barbell bicep curl (24.7kg x 3 x 12)
- barbell overhead press (24.7kg x 3 x 12)
- dumbbell shoulder press (40kg x 3 x 12)
- inclined seated biceps curls (20kg x 3 x 12)
-- this was an upgrade from the previous one we had, the incline supposedly targets the biceps more. i had to scale down from 25kg. - hammer curls (20kg x 3 x 12)
- dumbbell front raises (16kg x 3 x 12)
- dumbbell side lateral raise (16kg x 3 x 30) (front, mid, and back)
