Watching World Cup Final Together in My City
Sunday night, everyone in the world is focused on a moment that has been waiting for so long. What's that ? of course the 2022 World Cup final match between Argentina vs France which was the highlight of the World Cup event in Qatar. Everyone is a football fan even people who don't like football will know. Because it is the hottest news headlines in this world.
I also did not miss the moment. I invited my wife to go to a café where they watched the world cup final together. I walk out of the house at 7.30pm, and you know what? My subscription café to watch football matches is full. I asked the parking attendants and waiters at the café, since 7 pm people have come and taken seats to watch here. I turned around and looked for another place. After driving around to two places, finally my third stop, I found a café that wasn't too crowded at 8 pm. We were lucky, because it only took 30 minutes. Dozens of people have come and the cafe where I was to watch was full of people.
Actually, for me the phenomenon of watching the world cup together is quite unique to be done in this era. Why so ? logically, people don't have to bother going to cafes or bars to watch the world cup final. We can watch on television and even today's technology allows us to watch football broadcasts from our cellphone screens.
As far as I can remember and stories from my parents, the culture of watching together was created in the past due to limited media such as television. In Indonesia in 1980-1990, television was a tertiary / luxury item that was only owned by middle and upper class people and in this era, everyone had television and smartphones.
At that time, people who wanted to watch the FIFA World Cup final would gather in one house, post or field and watch it with people from the same village. I once had an experience like that, in the World Cup final in 1998. At that time, I was in a village in Labuhan Batu Regency. In 1998, in one village there was only one house with a television and we watched it together. My father, my uncles, nephews, cousins and nearly one village are part of my family. It was a very exciting experience at that time.
So? why is the tradition and culture of watching together still being carried out? my answer is simple. People in Indonesia generally have communal characteristics. So many, local traditions in my country are always related to other peoples. We have a saying "no you, no crowds", Indonesians like to get together and celebrate something. If you want to know how communal Indonesians are, you will find a community of cars or motorbikes with all the brands sold in this country.
We are back again about the nobar (watching together) culture of football. The culture of nobar or watching together is one of the cultures of football fans around the world. I'm sure many places around the world are doing the same thing. Watching football or sports broadcasts is more exciting when done in a crowd.
When watching football together, we will be carried away by the boisterous atmosphere. The moment we score, the chance and even the save made by the goal kipper makes us scream or jump. Sometimes, I also like to pay attention to the expressions and responses from the audience here. I can see a few people who seem to be placing big bets on the game. Yup, gambling is indeed difficult to separate from sports matches, the important thing is not to overdo it and not to be in debt.
Speaking of the 2022 World Cup Final, I'm lucky to be alive and watching Messi and Ronaldo. For me there is no difference about who is more GOAT, because whoever it is, Messi and Ronaldo are the best players of the generation, they are the best in their era or generation. I'm not a fan of Barcelona or Lionel Messi, but when Messi and Argentina won the world cup. I'm also happy, and I think there shouldn't be any more debates about who Messi is.
Okay, this is a story about the experience of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Finals and how is the situation in your city? is it fun too?

It was a lot of fun and certain allowances were made for people who made it to work a bit messed up from the night before where I live :)
