The Thrilling World of Zwift WTRL
Hey all,
So, tonight is the first ride of the 3rd and last leg of the Zwift Racing League (WTRL). I can’t wait and to explain a little what it is here is a short breakdown so you can consider if this might be something for you next time around.
The Zwift Racing League (WTRL) is where the digital roads meet the competitive spirit of cycling. This online platform has revolutionized the way cyclists connect, compete, and challenge themselves, all from the comfort of their own homes. Whether you're a seasoned racer or a passionate enthusiast, WTRL offers an exciting opportunity to engage in virtual racing like never before with categories for all cycling levels ranging from A (elite) to D (beginner)
What is WTRL?
WTRL, short for World Tactical Racing League, is a one of the best racing series on Zwift, the popular virtual cycling platform. It brings together riders from across the globe to compete in team-based formats that test endurance, strategy, and teamwork. Divided into multiple regions and divisions, WTRL ensures a level playing field for riders of varying skill levels.
The league is structured into seasons, each season is split into 3 parts of 6 races each, with weekly races. Teams earn points based on individual and collective performance, making every race very important in the pursuit of pursuing victory in the end.
What makes WTRL stand out
The best thing in my opinion is the diversity in race formats: Team Time Trials (TTT), Point Races and scratch races. In each race the team dynamics and co-operation is key to collect as many points cumulatively for the team to ensure as high league position as possible.
I have participated in 120+ Races on Zwift so far and the WTRL is in my opinion the most demanding and fun races I have ever done.
I race for a Danish team DBR Hailstorm (Danish Bike Riders) and in our league there are 12 teams, including us, in the 2024/2025 series we ended in 3rd place in the first part and 2nd pace in the second part.
Tonight is the start of the 3rd part and the goal for the team is to compete for the 1st place before it ends and the WTRL Finals that will be in April.
I am going to be posting a race recap for all the races we do in this 3rd and final leg of the races so feel free to follow to see how it all turns out.
If you are considering joining the WTRL but don’t know where to look for a team to join, feel free to reach out and I will gladly help out.

I have never raced with Swift before. I did see it a couple of times and it does look interesting. Unfortunately I don't have an indoor trainer (yet).
I prefer to ride outside, but living in The Netherlands isn't always possible due to the weather.
I might consider buying a small indoor trainer. Which one do you have?
I live in Denmark os the weather is also a showstopper for me over the winter. But try to ride regularly indoor during the winter, and on Zwift i do alot of races and there are training programs focused on what you want to get better at, races, endurance, sprints etc. So a fantastic platform actually. I ride on a Wahoo Kickr Cor, a mid range priced trainer with fantastic performance, i can absolutely recommend it. Gives a great extra dimension in riding :)
Oh, how interesting! so you need an exercise bike at home for it? 😀
Hey there,
Not really, you need a smart trainer like wahoo, Tacx or compatible then i mount my road bike directly on it.
