Hablemos de protagonismo en el Real Madrid | Opinión [ES | EN]
Luego de lo ocurrido el pasado Sábado, me habría encantado realizar un análisis al respecto del juego que se vivió contra la onceava de Jurgen Klopp, pero siento que, puntualmente, me gustaría más hablar sobre un tópico importante con respecto a esta temporada futbolística, ya que el Madrid tuvo unos protagonistas que, en definitiva, merecen el ojo crítico sobre su desempeño y el poder entender la consecuencia de lo mismo con respecto a galardones posibles.
After what happened last Saturday, I would have loved to analyze the game against Jurgen Klopp's eleventh team, but I feel that I would like to talk more about an important topic regarding this soccer season, since Madrid had some protagonists that, in short, deserve a critical eye on their performance and to understand the consequences of the same with respect to possible awards.
Hoy quiero hablar sobre el desempeño en esta temporada del Real Madrid pero a través de lo logrado por un par de monstruos futbolísticos que hay que mencionar porque ambos fueron unos contribuyentes casi máximos en la galardonada que se ha llevado el equipo merengue este año de la mano del gran técnico Carlo Ancelotti.
Today I want to talk about Real Madrid's performance this season, but through the achievements of a couple of soccer monsters that should be mentioned because both were almost maximum contributors to the award-winning performance of the merengue team this year by the hand of the great coach Carlo Ancelotti.
La Temporada de Karim Benzema | Karim Benzema's Season
La temporada 2021 de Karim Benzema es algo que, en definitiva, muchos de los madridistas jamás habrían imaginado; hablando desde mi punto de vista personal, cuando Karim jugaba en el tridente ofensivo junto a Cristiano Ronaldo, yo siempre le tiré mucho odio, siempre critiqué sus acciones porque nunca lo veía tan eficaz como 9, pero lamentablemente pecaba de no entender verdaderamente su rol cuando tenías un jugador como CR7 al lado, y sin embargo, realizaba una labor de asistidor totalmente preciso.
Desde la salida de CR7, Karim pasó a tener un protagonismo impresionante en el equipo, porque comenzó a desempeñar su labor de goleador sin perder ese toque de asistidor, pero lo que hizo en esta temporada 2021, es una extrema locura y si no me creen, vean estos números que obtengo de la siguiente página para Karim.
Karim Benzema's 2021 season is something that, in short, many madridistas would have never imagined; speaking from my personal point of view, when Karim played in the offensive trident alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, I always hated him, I always criticized his actions because I never saw him as effective as a 9, but unfortunately I sinned of not really understanding his role when you had a player like CR7 next to you, and yet, he performed a totally accurate assisting role.
Since the departure of CR7, Karim became an impressive protagonist in the team, because he began to play his role as a scorer without losing that assisting touch, but what he did in this season 2021, is extremely crazy and if you do not believe me, look at these numbers I get from the next page for Karim.
Si vemos los goles que KB9 pudo lograr en La Liga y lo comparamos, por lo menos, con los que hizo Lewandoski en la Bundesliga (35), podríamos decir que se queda pequeño, sin embargo, más allá del hecho de sus goles anotados (lo que le otorgó el "Pichichi" de este año), miren la cantidad de pases buenos que realizó durante la temporada 2021, ¡fueron 1039 pases buenos concretados con una media de 32.47 pases buenos por partido!
Con esto podemos entender que el rol de Karim es jugar de 9 y falso 9 al mismo tiempo, con una estrategia rotativa que Ancelotti utilizaba con una maestría impecable, que llevó a ciertas decepciones como todo, pero que, en definitiva, dejan mucho de qué hablar en lo positivo.
Ahora, si miramos estos números, pero ahora con respecto a la Champions League, entendemos que Karim fue completamente desbordante y aplastante para los equipos porque casi alcanza la mitad de los pases buenos que hizo en Liga en 20 partidos menos en Champions, una locura total, y si hablamos de los goles, pues, ya no tenemos mucho que contar ¿no es cierto?

With this we can understand that Karim's role is to play 9 and false 9 at the same time, with a rotational strategy that Ancelotti used with an impeccable mastery, which led to certain disappointments like everything else, but which, ultimately, leave much to talk about in the positive.
Now, if we look at these numbers, but now with respect to the Champions League, we understand that Karim was completely overflowing and crushing for the teams because he almost reached half of the good passes he made in La Liga in 20 games less in Champions League, a total madness, and if we talk about the goals, well, we no longer have much to tell, right?
El protagonismo de Karim en la ofensiva del Real Madrid es totalmente indiscutible, de igual forma, el hecho de que este se llevará el Ballon D'Or 2022 es un hecho tácito, que de no cumplirse, sería el mayor robo de la historia futbolística, a menos de que caiga en manos del próximo protagonista del que les voy a hablar en este post.
Ataque, defensa, desborde, un olfato impresionante para estar siempre en el lugar correcto cuando el balón más necesita llegar al arco rival, una capacidad de arrastre de marcas increíble y una magnífica sinergia con compañeros de ofensiva como Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, etc.
Karim Benzema es oro puro madridista.
Karim's prominence in Real Madrid's offense is totally indisputable, likewise, the fact that he will win the Ballon D'Or 2022 is an unspoken fact, which if not fulfilled, would be the greatest theft in soccer history, unless it falls into the hands of the next protagonist of which I am going to talk about in this post.
Attack, defense, overflow, an impressive nose for always being in the right place when the ball most needs to reach the opponent's goal, an incredible ability to drag marks and a magnificent synergy with offensive teammates like Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, etc.
Karim Benzema is pure Madrid gold.
Nunca pensé que llegaría algún otro portero al Real Madrid que me hiciera sentir la misma cantidad de felicidad y adrenalina que el primer ídolo que me hizo enamorarme de este histórico equipo como lo fue el gran Ángel del Madrid, San Íker Casillas, pero debo decir que desde que lo vi jugar hace un par de mundiales en Bélgica, supe que Thibaut Courtois era un portero de otra categoría.
Ahora, el desempeño de Courtois en la temporada 2021/2022 ha sido de las locuras más impresionantes del fútbol, a tal punto, de que nadie puede quitarle en este momento el hecho de ser coronado (de forma oficial) como el mejor portero del mundo en la actualidad.
Para dar certeza del hecho mencionado anteriormente, veamos los números que tuvo este gran guardameta en la presente temporada, también obtenidos de la siguiente página:
I never thought that any other goalkeeper would come to Real Madrid that would make me feel the same amount of happiness and adrenaline as the first idol that made me fall in love with this historic team as was the great Angel of Madrid, Saint Íker Casillas, but I must say that since I saw him play a couple of World Cups ago in Belgium, I knew that Thibaut Courtois was a goalkeeper of another category.
Now, Courtois' performance in the 2021/2022 season has been one of the most impressive follies in soccer, to such an extent, that no one can take away the fact that he is crowned (officially) as the best goalkeeper in the world today.
To give certainty to the aforementioned fact, let's see the numbers that this great goalkeeper had in the current season, also obtained from the following page:
Si vemos sus números, tuvo un promedio máximo de 1 gol en contra por partido, en La Liga Santander incluso tuvo un promedio por debajo de 1 gol por partido, eso de por sí, dice muchísimo, pero fíjense en la cantidad de paradas por partido que se podía lanzar estadísticamente, en Liga tuvo 2.58 de promedio, por lo que, al menos, cada partido anotaba él 2 goles, porque siempre he pensado que cuando un portero te detiene un gol claro, es prácticamente un gol para tu equipo.
Ahora, si vemos el performance de la Champions League es una barbaridad total, en tan solo 13 partidos tuvo un promedio de 4.54 paradas por partido, es decir, por partido salvó al Madrid de recibir —a lo mínimo— casi 5 goles, por ende, prácticamente esta Champions fue ganada por Courtois más que por los goles anotados por la delantera merengue, analizar esto es simplemente una locura.

Menos mal que existe un premio al mejor portero del año porque en definitiva siento que la labor de los porteros siempre ha estado infravalorada, inclusive hablando por experiencia propia porque yo fui guardameta durante 6 años de mi vida futbolística, obteniendo un par de títulos regionales.
Esta labor es muy malagradecida, ya que, un delantero puede cometer un error y fallar un gol, no hay problema, pero un portero comete un error y es un gol en contra, es grave, entonces, Thibaut nos ha mostrado que los porteros pueden ganar partidos más que los mismos delanteros y eso hay que reconocerlo para que este rol tenga mucho más protagonismo.
La cuestión aquí, es que realmente porteros tan destacados como él son contados en la actualidad, pero quién sabe, tal vez en un par de años veamos porteros más experimentados así como hemos visto que los defensas han mejorado sus capacidades para frenar delanteros con mucho drible y pegada.
Precisión, vuelo, posicionamiento, carácter, inteligencia, reflejos impresionantes, predisposición a la mejoría y al liderazgo, en definitiva, Thibaut Courtois, un Cancerbero legendario que tiene toda la capacidad de igualar y/o superar la trayectoria del legendario Íker Casillas en el Madrid.
Thank goodness that there is an award for the best goalkeeper of the year because I feel that the work of goalkeepers has always been undervalued, even speaking from my own experience because I was a goalkeeper for 6 years of my soccer life, winning a couple of regional titles.
This work is very ungrateful, because, a striker can make a mistake and miss a goal, no problem, but a goalkeeper makes a mistake and it is a goal against, it is serious, then, Thibaut has shown us that goalkeepers can win games more than the same strikers and that must be recognized so that this role has much more prominence.
The point here is that goalkeepers as outstanding as him are few and far between nowadays, but who knows, maybe in a couple of years we will see more experienced goalkeepers, just as we have seen that defenders have improved their ability to stop dribbling and punching strikers.
Accuracy, flight, positioning, character, intelligence, impressive reflexes, predisposition to improve and leadership, in short, Thibaut Courtois, a legendary goalkeeper who has all the capacity to equal and/or surpass the career of the legendary Íker Casillas at Madrid.
Ballon D'Or 2022
El fútbol sabe de méritos en ocasiones, pero en otras no, ya que, es muy difícil pensar que si Karim Benzema no obtuviera el famoso galardón, sería casi imposible que lo obtuviera Thibaut Courtois, aún habiendo sido él la pieza clave de todos los encuentros de la Champions League y habiendo obtenido todos los trofeos que obtuvo KB9, pero esto no es nuevo.
Recuerdo aquella vez en la que Manuel Neuer fue nominado al Ballon D'Or luego de aquél mundial espectacular junto a su selección Alemania, el performance de Neuer fue impecable, obtuvo todos los títulos que puedo tener con su equipo de liga (Bayern de Munich) y obtuvo uno de los trofeos mas difíciles de todos, el afamado Mundial, y aún así, terminó perdiendo el galardón a manos de Cristiano Ronaldo, el cuál, por supuesto, no tuvo una mala temporada, pero siento que todos quedamos con un mal sabor de boca en aquella ocasión.
Ahora, de no obtener Karim el Balón de Oro, ¿sería descabellado decir que el jugador que más lo merece es Thibaut Courtois? Porque estamos claros que los porteros no pueden terminar como goleadores de un torneo, pero el trabajo de los porteros es tan importante como el de la delantera y en este caso particular, Courtois ha obtenido todos los títulos que tiene KB9, así que, si habláramos de justicia, el galardón tendría que ir a manos del Belga sí o sí.
Es más, volviendo a repasar la estadística, si comparamos los goles anotados de los delanteros con los goles tapados por el guardameta, se quedaría corto ¿no es cierto? Es decir, Courtois en Liga tuvo 93 paradas, por lo que, básicamente anotó 93 goles para su equipo al evitar 93 goles en contra y en Champions (en tan solo 13 partidos) evitó 59 goles en contra, lo que podría considerarse que anotó 59 goles para su equipo (en un caso hipotético), entonces, ¿no sería una cuestión meritoria este hecho?
Tal vez nunca lo sepamos, porque tal vez todavía no es el momento de darle ese protagonismo a los porteros.

Now, if Karim does not win the Ballon d'Or, would it be unreasonable to say that the most deserving player is Thibaut Courtois? Because we are clear that goalkeepers cannot finish as scorers of a tournament, but the work of the goalkeepers is as important as that of the strikers and in this particular case, Courtois has won all the titles that KB9 has, so, if we were talking about justice, the award would have to go to the Belgian, no matter what.
What's more, going back to the statistics, if we compare the goals scored by the strikers with the goals saved by the goalkeeper, it would fall short, wouldn't it? I mean, Courtois in La Liga had 93 saves, so, he basically scored 93 goals for his team by preventing 93 goals against and in Champions League (in just 13 games) he prevented 59 goals against, which could be considered that he scored 59 goals for his team (in a hypothetical case), so, wouldn't this fact be a meritorious issue?
Maybe we will never know, because maybe it is not yet the time to give that prominence to goalkeepers.

Si llegaste hasta aquí, te lo agradezco mucho, yo me siento increíblemente feliz de estar vivo en esta era donde mi gran equipo ha alcanzado muchos galardones en poco tiempo, pues, con tan solo 27 años de edad ya he visto a mi Real Madrid ganar la Champions 5 veces de las 14 globales, así que no puedo hacer más que disfrutar este gran momento futbolístico que estamos viviendo.
Espero de todo corazón seguir viendo un crecimiento exponencial de estos épicos jugadores y tal vez en algún punto de la vida poder ver a algún portero recibir un Ballon D'Or, porque habiendo sido portero alguna vez, sería totalmente increíble e ilusorio este hecho, sobretodo para las nuevas generaciones que busquen formar parte de dichos roles futbolísticos.

A pesar que en los encuentros decisivos fueron inferiores a sus rivales, el Madrid mostró por qué es el Madrid.
