TRANSFER RUMOURS: Manchester United eye new centre-back option

According to reports in England, Manchester United are lining up a move to attract a new center back option. So far, their have been lots of criticisms over exiting regular center backs, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.

On his part, Maguire has been subject to making lots of mistakes whenever he comes under pressure. For Varane, he is almost always not available for team selection as injury and a lack of fitness have taken toll.
Hence, the Red Devils are preparing a summer move for Dortmund star defender Manuel Akanji.

Akanji's present issue:

The current issue between Manuel Akanji and Dortmund is simple. The German side have shown signs that they would love him to stay, however it seems the swiss international wants more.
For the reports, he is edging closer to the end of his current Dortmund deal. As a new deal, the German side offered him a renewal worth 7 million euros a year.

Akanji's view:

After having chats with his agent and representatives, it was understood that he was not pleased with the 7 million euros contract renewal.
Instead, the defender opted for a 9 million euros deal as renewal. Which Dortmund have been unable to fulfil demands so far.

Summary:

With the ups and downs associated with Akanji's stay at Dortmund, a pleasing contract may be all Manchester United need to get the winger to their ranks.
Hence, a potential deal for the Red Devils could be looming.
