Transfer News: Will Chelsea Pull The Signing Of Enzo Fernandez Before The Deadline Time Today?
Today 31st of January 2023 is the last day of the winter transfer window. Today is going to be a busy day for clubs as they are to round up all their transfer schedules in the market before: 11:59 pm tonight. Some clubs are done in the transfer market, while some are still trying to make a final agreement to sign the player of their choice.
Chelsea has been busy in the transfer market, actually thought Chelsea was buying an entire squad in the window because they got a lot of players and spent a tremendous amount of money in the window, even though they were successful in hijacking players from Arsenal and signing quality talent they have failed to get Enzo Fernandez from Benfica this winter.
Enzo Fernandez rose in fame with his incredible performance in the 2022 world cup in Qatar last year, the young Argentinian player scored a stunning goal against Mexico in the group stage of the tournament and since then his name has been in the mouths of many football fans.
Enzo's goal against Mexico was the only goal the youngster scored in the world cup but he was still a major source in Argentina's midfield, he had a good passing rate and was able to break his opponent's defense line with his passing skills.
Aside from winning the world cup with Argentina Enzo Fernandez won an individual award in the world cup, he won the best young player of the tournament award which is his first international award as a player, Enzo Fernandez has good qualities and this is why Chelsea is after him since the beginning of the winter window but has failed to come to an agreement with Benfica.
Chelsea's first initial bid for Enzo was 87 million euros with three players from Chelsea which are Ziyech, David Datro Fofana, and Andry Santos but Benfica rejected the offer and wanted Chelsea to pay the release clause for Enzo which is 105 million Euros.
The Blues did not back down as the continuing negotiation talks with Benfica but no positive result came out, for a while the deal dead down but as of yesterday Fabrizio Romano confirmed Chelsea sent a team to Portugal to close the deal on signing Enzo and were willing to pay 120 million euros which is more than Enzo Fernandez release clause, Chelsea still were not able to seal the deal as Benfica president Rul Costa has not given a green light to Chelsea's proposal, to me it just seems Benfica don't want to sell Enzo and are just stalling the deal until they window closes
The situation is frustrating for Chelsea anything can happen today, we will just have to wait and see how the deadline in the transfer window ends. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a good evening.
I heard they finally did. I haven't verified though.
Cheers bro.
Congrats @iamchuks, they did it 🥳. As a Manchester United fan i hope he flops 😄. No, actually he is a great player, but the prem is so hard to play these days and Chelsea are in big performance trouble.
