Matchday 17 Highlights Of The EPL
Matchday 17 of the English Premier League started with a win, West Ham United beat Brentford 2-0, Ivan Toney scored a goal and gave an assist and Dasilva scored the second and last goal of the match for West Ham. Ivan Toney is a fantastic player and I still think he should have been picked by Southgate for the world cup, I don't see how his betting issue had to do with how he performs on the field, well that is all in the past now and I hope he gets called up for the Euros.
Liverpool and Leicester City were the second teams to play on Matchday 17. Liverpool won by 2 goals to 1 against Leicester, Leicester City started strong in the first half, they opened the scoreline early in the fourth minute as Dewsbury-Hall scored the first and only goal for Leicester City and was assisted by Daka.
Their lead came to an end in the 38th minute after Wout Faes Leicester City defender scored an own goal and in the 45th minute, Wout Faes scored the second own goal which gave Liverpool the lead It was embarrassing for Wout Faes but still, the coach allowed him to play for the rest of the match, the match came to an end and Liverpool took all three points and is close to the top four.
Manchester United beat Wolverhampton away from home with just a goal before the match started Marcus Rashford was missing from the starting lineup, it was confirmed that Ten Hag (Manchester United manager) had put him on the bench because he came late for a team meeting but Rashford gave a good result after he scored the only goal of the match coming from the bench, Rashford has come back in form and to me, he is the main man for Manchester United currently.
Ten Hag has shown no players will be given special treatment even if they are the ones bagging goals for the team. Manchester United are doing great, they are currently sitting in the fourth spot on the EPL table, this just shows that Ten Hag is doing an incredible job with the team, looking forward to seeing how they end the season.
Newcastle United played a goalless draw with Leeds United, I was expecting a win from Newcastle but it seems Leeds were not willing to let a point go overall Newcastle was the better team, they dominated in ball possession and more shots on target and played a total of 14 shots in the match. Newcastle still retains their spot in the top four, I still believe they have what it takes to finish in the top four this season.
Manchester City played a 1-1 draw with Everton at home, with Haaland scoring his 21st goal of his first-ever season in the EPL, it has been a good run for him in the EPL, and, is two goals away from reaching the highest goal-scored last season in the EPL, Evertonequalizese 64th minute with a fantastic goal from Gray.
Manchester City is now 7 points away from Arsenal who is the league leader, Manchester City is slipping away little by little from the title race, they need to step up their game before Arsenal slips further away, I am still rooting for City and I think they will win the league this season.
Fulham continue their winning run as they beat Southampton 2 goals to 1 at home, Ward-Prowse scored an own goal in the first half, and in the second half, he redeemed himself as he leveled the scoreline in the 56th minute but it was not enough to stop the hungry Fulham as they scored their first official goal in the match in the 88th minute, Mitrovic had the opportunity to add to Fulham lead but missed the penalty. Fulham is currently sitting at the 6th spot in the EPL. It is decent but they can do more, let's see how they finish the season this year.
Crystal Palace beat Bournemouth 2-0 away from home after a horrible performance last week Ayew and Eze scored the two goals for Crystal Palace and both were assisted by Olise Crystal Palace is currently sitting at the 11 spots in the EPL. I don't have any expectations from them this season.
Arsenal ended the year with a massive win away from home, the Gunners beat Brighton 4 goals to 2 away from home, Saka, Odegaard, Nketiah and Martinelli were on the scoresheet for Arsenal and for Brighton, Motina and Ferguson both scored the two goals for their club. Arsenal is now 7 points away from defending champions Manchester City, and I still think Manchester City is winning the league.
Tottenham started the new year with defeat as they lost to Aston Villa at home. Villa was able to put two goals past Hugo Loris. I had expectations from Tottenham when the season began last year and believe that Conte will turn the team around but with their two recent matches I am beginning to have doubts, Spurs have to get their heads back in the game if they want to play in the UCL next season, looking forward to seeing how they end the season.
The last match of Matchday 17 was between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea, both teams played a 1-1 draw in the full 90 minutes Chelsea still is having problems and I am beginning to wonder if Potter was the right man for the Job, Chelsea is currently in the 9th spot in the EPL table they are not even close to the top 5 spot, it's pretty bad for the club.
Chelsea is already pushing through for new players in the transfer market to strengthen their squad and the new owner is ready to spend more in the window, I hope they don't make the same mistake they made with Lukaku, they should make sure to get quality players in the transfer window.
So guys this is where I say goodbye, thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead
Newcastle's game surprised me because I felt they would win and they missed the chance to go second. I'm still amazed by their incredible run in the league so I would say they are on the right path.
Newcastle did well and with their performance against Arsenal yesterday I am convinced they will finish top 4 this season.
Newcastle keeps surprising me.

Can you look at this line. It’s should be Brentford beat Westham not westham beat Brentford.
You see the thing with Arsenal this year is that the fighting spirit is amazing. It’s as if they have been injected with new life. We can all agree that it seems City have better players but when you watch Arsenal and watch city you feel a spark when you watch arsenal.
I think there are still a lot of games to go and City can cause an upset but the more games they continue drawing and loosing will mean they will have problems and things will eventually not turn out good for them.
I think Potter is the right man for the job. The problem here is that he won’t have enough time to work and he might be sacked. I still think he should have waited until the end of the season before taking the job. With the way things are going it seems the players are unmotivated to play and in the long run Potter will be the one with problems.
Yes, there is no doubt Arsenal has been impressive this season but we all know how City are they will not back down out of the title race till the last day and very soon they will put pressure on Arsenal.
I still have mixed feelings about Potter, I may be wrong about him but let's see how the season ends.
Yay! 🤗
