Manchester United Vs Leeds United ( Match Recap)
On Wednesday night Manchester United played at home against Leeds United, it was a golden opportunity for the red devils to go a point clear over Manchester City and sit in the second position of the EPL table. Manchester United's performance after the world cup has been impressive, the team looks confident and is pushing for the title race this season, it is safe to say Ten Hag has turned the team around and all doubts against him have been buried.
Manchester United Vs Leeds United was one of those matches I thought would be an easy win for the men in red but it turned out differently to my surprise on Wednesday night. Leeds United threw the first blow in the early 1st minute of the first half, Tyler Adams from Leeds United made a successful tackle on Bruno Fernandes, and Wilfried Gronto from Leeds received the loose ball and played a one-touch with his teammate Patrick Bamford who played a one-touch back to Wilfried.
The Leeds United winger received the ball and quickly took a shot outside the box, Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea was unable to reach the ball as it went past him and entered the goalpost. VAR stopped play to check the goal if there was a possible foul on Bruno Fernandes when Adamas took the ball off him, the check was completed and Leeds's goal stood. Both sides hit each other with a back-to-back counter attack but neither team could score for the rest of the first half.
The second half began and three minutes later Leeds United increased their lead, Crysencia Summerville who was subbed in at the beginning of the second half made the goal happen, Crysencio made a low cross into the box, and the ball deflected off Raphael Varen's leg and made its way into the goalpost. Manchester United were two goals down but their spirit was not down and in the 62nd minute they scored their first goal of the match. Dalot from Manchester United swung the ball from the right-corner into Leed's defense and who else but Marcus Rashford jumped for the ball and headed it into the goalpost.
Rashford has scored in all Manchester United matches since he returned from the world cup and is Manchester United's most important player at the moment. United was not done scoring, 8 minutes later after Rashford's goal United leveled the scoreline, Luke Shaw played a low cross into Leeds United's defense but the ball was blocked by a defender, Sancho quickly went for the loose ball and played a shot into the goalpost and scored the second goal for United.
Manchester United was desperate in getting the winning goal but Leed's defense would not let that happen, United created more chances but still, no goal, and the 90 minutes came to an end with both teams taking a point each. The match had everything except a winner and I am sure Manchester United players will be disappointed with themselves for not winning the match. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.
