Manchester Moves Three Points Close To Arsenal After Beating Aston Villa 3-1 At Home

Manchester City has shown us over again how deadly they can be when pushing to retain their title. Just a week ago I already had doubts if they would defend their title because they failed to take the opportunity to go two points close to Arsenal when the Gunners lost to Everton last week.

Before I started doubting Manchester City's capability to defend their title, I also gave my take on how Manchester City is stubborn and would not go down without a fight. The Gunners are good but I just don't see them winning the league this season and sadly after their loss against Everton they have given in to that pressure which made them draw against Brentford on Saturday.

What I expected Manchester City to do last week the boys in blue did last night against Aston Villa. Manchester City played home against Aston Villa last night. City dominated the match and won by 3 goals to 1 in the Etihad stadium.

Manchester City scored the first goal of the match in the early 4th minute of the first half from a corner kick, Mahrez swung the ball from the left corner into the box and Rodri was there to receive it as he jumped and headed the ball into the goalposts gave City their first lead of the night.

Manchester City extended their lead to two goals in the 39th minute of the first half, De Bruye played a long through ball to Haaland who was on the run, Calum Chamber from Aston Villa puts his head and clear the ball away but Haaland was quick to recover the ball, took his time and played a low cross into the box and Gundogan made a tap in into the goalpost.

Jack Grealish won a penalty for City after he was fouled in the box by an Aston Villa defender, there was a big discussion between Rodri, Gundogan, Haaland, and Mahrez on who will take the penalty kick I was expecting it would be Haaland but Marhez was given the ball to take it and the City winger took it beautifully and scored the third goal for his side, and the first half was brought to an end.

At the beginning of the second half, Haaland was subbed off as a precaution because of injury but deep down I know Pep wanted him to rest for their important match against Arsenal on Wednesday. Aston Villa scored a consolation goal in the 61st minute of the second half, Luiz from Villa played a long through ball to Watkins who made an incredible run down City's defense and played the ball past City's goalkeeper into the goalpost.

Aston Villa tried to get another goal but their finishing was not good enough. The match came to an end and Manchester City took all three points and is now three points behind Arsenal, if City beats Arsenal on Wednesday they will move back to the top of the table using goal difference.

It is going to be an interesting match to watch on Saturday, and I look forward to seeing the outcome. So guys that will be all for now, thanks for stopping by, and have a great week ahead.
