Chelsea's Turmoil: Pochettino's Challenge and Youthful Hurdles
The same story from last season keeps on rolling with Chelsea. The Blues are still yet to get their form back and it looks likely that not going to happen anytime soon this season. Since Tuchel got sacked Chelsea has gotten three managers and still, they were not able to change the dynamics of the team. The club was active in the January and Summer transfer window this year, spending a billion plus in the market getting players who they believe have quality and would serve the club for a long time.
The players Chelsea got during the transfer window are mostly young boys from age 17 to 20 and they have little experience of playing in a competitive league. It is not a bad idea to invest in young talents but these young players need guidance from experienced players on the team and Chelsea only has a senior player which is Thiago who will be leaving next summer which is when his contract will run out.
Reece James who most people may say has experience in Chelsea will be able to captain the team but in my opinion, James doesn't have that experience, it has not been up to five years since he was promoted from Chelsea academy to the first team and currently his form should be questioned because he is already injury prone and Chelsea can't have an injury prone player leading the team.
Towards the end of last season, Mauricio Pochettino was the favourite man to take the job as Chelsea head coach. I remember writing that Pochettino wouldn't be able to take this Chelsea team out of their problem because if he could not manage a team where he had Neymar, Messi and Mbappe then what is the probability he will be able to manage Chelsea.
Chelsea's preseason tour gave the fans a bit of hope because they played well and even their first game against Liverpool in the EPL was convincing but their performance after that game has declined. Chelsea has no excuse not to make the top four this season because they have fewer matches to play than the likes of Newcastle, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Blues don't have any European football this season so their focus should be on finishing in the top four but they are having it hard to do this season. Pochettino has a lot of work to do and errors to correct and if Chelsea doesn't finish the league in the top four then Pochettino will likely get sacked by the board. The season is still long and Pochettino has enough time on his hands so let's see how it goes for the Blues.
So guys that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.
