Barcelona Eight Points Clear of Real Madrid After Beating Sevilla 3-0
The weekend in Laliga was in chaos for the top six in the La Liga table except for FC Barcelona who was the only team in the top six to win their match in the weekend fixtures. Real Sociedad who are third on the table lost 1-0 at home to Real Valladolid who is in 13th place of the table. The shocking loss this weekend was Real Madrid who lost 1-0 away from home to Mallorca, no one saw it coming but it did happen yesterday, Atletico Madrid played a 1-1 draw at home to Getafe and Real Betis lost at home to Celta Vigo.
FC Barcelona delivered an outstanding performance at home against Sevilla, the Catalan giants have shown again why this season is their season and are more prepared to win the La Liga title at all costs, in the first 45 minutes of the first half, both teams failed to score a goal, Lewandoski was desperately trying to score but all his shot was blocked by Sevilla's goalkeeper.
Sergio Busquets picked up an injury in the 8th minute of the first half and was immediately replaced by Frank Kessie who has had little playing time since he joined Barcelona, Presidente which is Franck Kessie's nickname gave a good performance and was even the one to assist the first goal for Barcelona in the second half. The first goal of the match was scored 58th minute of the second half, Andres Christensen played a cross into Sevilla's box and found Raphinha, the Brazilian winger quickly passed the ball to Kessie and Kessie took his time to make the right pass to Jordi Alba who played a shot into the goalpost.
Barcelona doubled their lead in the 70th minute, Kounde played a long ball to Raphinha, the Brazilian international received the ball and made a run down Sevilla's defense, and played an incredible through ball to Gavi, the Spanish youngster made a tap-in into the goalpost, that pass from Raphinha was so good, none of the Sevilla defenders could predict the ball would go to Gavi. Gavi went to celebrate his goal with Dembele who was present in the stadium, they both embraced each other and Gavi returned to the pitch.
Barcelona scored their third of the night in the 79th minute, Frenkie De Jong played a cross to Jordi Alba, Jordi Alba received the ball and played a through ball into the box and Raphinha was there to make a tap-in into the goalpost. Sevilla attempted to score from a corner in the 85th minute but Ter Stegen was there to save the ball. The match ended and Barcelona took all three points, the Spanish giant is eight-point clear of Real Madrid and I can confidently say we are going to win the league.
Raphinha was outstanding last night, he was criticized a lot because of his performance so far in the season and some believed he was not up to the challenge to step up since Dembele is currently injured, we quickly jumped to the conclusion he was not good enough and failed to give him more time. The Europa League first leg against Manchester United is coming up next week, I trust Raphinha will put up a brilliant performance for Barcelona.
Xavi in the post-match interview when asked how he feels to be eight points clear of Real Madrid in the table he said that it shows the results of the team's hard work but he will not let it get to him because they need to keep going. After all, a little mistake could happen and the gap could close in a matter of seconds. I trust Xavi's project and I believe he will lead Barcelona to a great new era. So guys that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
I truly hope this guys keep maintaining this breach between them and R. Madrid. My God, they can't lose this Liga, not again... Great chronicle, @iamchuks
I have full faith in the squad and Xavi, nothing is stopping them from winning the league this season, like Xavi said he won't let his guard down and push for more victory till the end of the season. Thanks for stopping by mate.
It's a project steadily growing in stature. I wish them well.
Nice smart update you have here.
Cheers bro.
