Andre Onana To Manchester United Is A Done Deal
Manchester United and Inter Milan have agreed on the sale of Onana. United pushed for this deal to happen because of the departure of David De Gea. The former Manchester United goalkeeper confirmed he will not extend his contract at United, and has decided to move on to a new stage in his career. The Spanish goalkeeper could end up in Saudi Arabia before the end of the summer since there is no confirmed news of clubs in Europe offering a contract.
David De Gea joined Manchester United in 2011, and since then has spent 12 years at the club. De Gea was a phenomenal goalkeeper during his time at United but sadly was not given enough international playing time for his country Spain. During David De Gea's 12 years stay at Manchester United, the Spanish goalkeeper has won two English League Cups, One Premier League Title, Three times English Supercup and One Europa League Trophy.
De Gea could have achieved more, but United were struggling in some parts of those years. The Spanish goalkeeper has been criticized many times by some United fans, and why some still believe in De Gea. There was no sign that De Gea was going to leave this summer, as many of us thought he would extend his contract with Manchester United, but like a quote says " Nothing Last Forever" it was time for the Spanish goalkeeper to say goodbye to United.
When I heard Manchester United were bidding for Onana I was surprised. In my own opinion, United Should not have signed Onana. Onana is not as good at the goalpost as De Gea, but very talented in bringing the ball forward. Onana can build up play from the backline which De Gea is lacking behind in that opposition, but Onana does not come close to the level De Gea is in goalkeeping.
Ten Hag was involved in the signing of Onana and only wanted the goalkeeper to come to United. Ten Hag may want to add a new tactic next season and needs Onana build-up play from the backline. Onana needs to buckle up, prepare for the challenges ahead, and have it at the back of his mind the EPL is not Serie A where he will push the ball forward outside the box eighteen, because he won't be given any chance to make that move.
Time will tell if it was the best decision by Ten Hag to bring Onana into the club. There will be a lot of pressure from the fans and Ten Hag, good results are needed quickly, and United are not ready to calm down this coming season, as they have eyes on all the trophies this coming season. So guys that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
