Como de costumbre, veo casi sin falta todos los partidos de los Boston Celtics, incluidos los que no transmiten para Latinoamérica (que en su mayoría son de esta forma), por eso me toca indagar entre las redes casi todos los días para encontrar alguna página aceptable en la que pueda ver a mi equipo jugar por lo menos cada dos noches. Ayer pude disfrutar por fin, otro partido de los Celtics con programación exclusiva para este lado del continente americano. Los Orgullosos Verdes tenían la dura tarea de visitar al equipo con mejor racha en la NBA en el último mes jugado, estoy hablando de los Brooklyn Nets de Kyrie Irving y compañía.

Para este entretenido encuentro (el más llamativo de la jornada de anoche) se enfrentaban los dos mejores equipos en cuánto a récords se refiere de la Conferencia Este. Desde la llegada de Jacque Vaughn al banquillo de los Nets, el equipo ha dado un giro de 180° en comparación a lo mostrado por su antecesor Steve Nash. Brooklyn está actualmente entre los mejores en cuánto a defensiva se refiere. Desde que Vaughn asumió el liderazgo del banquillo por allá por finales del mes de Noviembre, el equipo ha sido el mejor en forma en toda la NBA, con un récord apabullante de 18 victorias y 2 derrotas de la mano de una de las mejores parejas de la liga como lo son: Kyrie Irving y Kevin Durant.

Casualmente, los Nets no pudieron contar el día de ayer con la presencia del Alero ganador de 2 anillos de Campeonato con los Golden State Warriors. Y es que Kevin Durant sufrió una lesión en la rodilla el pasado partido ante el Miami Heat, inconveniente que lo tendrá fuera de las canchas por tiempo indefinido, aunque a primera vista no se ve tan grave como otras lesiones que ha sufrido el gran jugador que alguna vez fue MVP en su época con Oklahoma City Thunder.

Ben Simmons fue uno de los más destacados por los locales metiendo 10 asistencias en el primer tiempo. El Ex Philadelphia 76ers ha sido muy criticado en los últimos tiempos por su falta de tiro y efectividad de cara al aro, es que es literal, ayer no hizo ningún punto, tuvo un 0/3 en tiros de campo pero fue vital repartiendo el balón y por supuesto en el costado defensivo donde es un excelente jugador. Los Celtics terminaron yéndose con ventaja de 3 puntos al descanso, de la mano de un gran trabajo de la segunda unidad siempre encabezada por el Ex Indiana Pacers, Malcolm Brogdom, que ayer anotó por encima de su promedio poniendo unos muy buenos e interesantes 16 puntos desde el banquillo.

La estrella de los Celtics y gran candidato al MVP, Jayson Tatum, no tuvo una de sus mejores noches en el costado ofensivo de la cancha, sí fue muy bueno el cierre que hizo en el segundo cuarto para nivelar el partido e irse con una ligera ventaja, tomando el balón y haciéndose cargo de las últimas posesiones de Boston antes de irse al descanso.

Al final el partido se lo llevaron los Orgullosos Verdes por marcador de 98-109, victoria en la que hay destacar por sobre todas las cosas a la gran segunda guardia que tiene Boston en el banquillo como lo son: Brogdom, Pritchard y Kornet. Y a la defensiva del equipo que ha sido el punto más débil del equipo en esta temporada, pero que de a poco va engranando gracias a la recuperación de Robert Williams III que es un auténtico baluarte en ese costado de la cancha.
