Rugby World Cup

I am a little surprised to see that rugby is not among the sports discussed and analyzed in this great community. Probably because it is not a widely practiced or widespread sporting activity throughout America and of course there are not many followers.

However, there are some exceptions, basically in the Southern cone; Argentina has historically dominated rugby on the entire continent, but in recent times both Uruguay and Chile have begun a slow process of insertion into its sporting diversity, proof of this is the classification of both nations to the world championship that is being played in these moments in France. The ecumenical tournament shows luxury stadiums that are filled to capacity, incontrovertible proof of the large number of fans who are interested in this rough sport in the rest of the world.

Of course here in my country, there is a great tradition received from our past so linked to Europe, not so much because of the massive immigration of Spaniards and Italians at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century but rather because of the little British immigration but very strong participation in our economy at that same time when, for example, they built the railway network, our love for golf came from that same plant; Of course, it was something that came naturally from work, schools, journalism, and strong cultural activity.

Anyway, here we are, we have everyone's influence and rugby is part of it.

But let's talk something about this popular sport and its world championship still in dispute.

As in all World Cups, there were some surprises, although not that many, the most talked about came from some unexpected triumphs, although not far from possibilities; Argentina won an incredible match against Wales, and the final result of 29 to 17 was larger than what the match showed in its 80 minutes. The next to arouse some astonishment was New Zealand's victory over Ireland and although many here know little about this sport, it is very difficult not to know that the "All Blacks" are always candidates, although on this occasion they faced the first in the world ranking who also have a superlative game, until they came to this match and lost to those in black 28 to 24, as always.

The last surprise was carried out by South Africa who won another incredible match against the local and top favorite France, it was only by one point, 29 to 28.

The only previously favorite team that won the quarter-final matches was England, which beat Fiji, although not with all the comfort that was announced by 30 to 24.

In this way, the four teams that will face each other for the title were left. Next Friday the match will be played between the New Zealand All Blacks and the Pumas of Argentina while on Saturday it will be the turn of England's Rose and the South African Springboks. The winners will go to the grand final while the losers will compete for third and fourth place. The favorites are the All Blacks and the Rosa, we will see if this time the predictions are right.

Of course, I hope that at least in one case they are wrong.
