Indycar 2024
Cuando todavía está muy fresco el final de la temporada 2023 con la consagración del extraordinario piloto español Alex Palau como bicampeón de la categoría, ya han comenzado a surgir novedades para la temporada 2024.
En principio hubo algunos movimientos en el calendario, no demasiados por supuesto, pero si uno de mucho significado como es la incorporación del óvalo de Milwaukee, eso refrenda la intención de los dirigentes de la categoría de darle más preponderancia a los óvalos por sobre las carreras de circuitos; en el calendario dado a conocer recientemente hay otra novedad que nos muestra la desaparición de la carrera de Texas, según se dice será solo temporal ya que el calendario de los juegos olímpicos a desarrollarse en París, ha obligado a varios deportes de gran interés mundial a apretar sus fechas y esto no le dejó espacio.
Otra novedad importante es la incorporación del joven piloto danés Christian Rasmussen al equipo Ed Carpenter Racing. Este piloto de tan solo 23 años de edad viene de ser campeón del Indy NXT (ex Indy Light) obteniendo de esa manera las tres categorías principales del Road to Indy en cuatro años. Christian será compañero de equipo del neerlandés Rinus VeeKay y se subirá al auto en la mayoría de las carreras del calendario incluidas las 500 millas de Indianápolis (esta última con un tercer auto), el dueño del equipo se reservó el monoplaza para las fechas que se correrán en óvalos, una especialidad de la casa.
Por último, hay novedades en el equipo del argentino Ricardo Juncos; el Juncos Hollinger Racing, apenas una semana después del anuncio de la continuidad de Agustín Canapino ha comunicado oficialmente la desvinculación del joven piloto británico Callum Ilott quien tuvo algunos encontronazos con el "titán de Arrecifes", principalmente en el circuito de Laguna Seca de Long Beach, escenario de la última carrera del torneo que acaba de finalizar cuando en una maniobra arriesgada chocó a su compañero de equipo provocándole daños al auto arruinándole la gran tarea que venía desempeñando y poniendo en riesgo el incentivo económico de un millón de dólares con que la categoría premia a los 22 primeros puestos del campeonato.
El Juncos Hollinger aún no ha anunciado al nuevo integrante del equipo, aunque se sospecha que la butaca será de un ex fórmula 1, se trata nada menos que del suizo Romain Grosjean. No caben dudas que de concretarse será una gran incorporación al circo de la Indycar que promete un nuevo año de grandes espectáculos.
Si bien falta mucho para el comienzo de la próxima temporada, Los que vivimos lejos no vemos la hora de sentarnos frente a los televisores con un buen tazón de pochoclo y disfrutar del espectáculo.

Another important novelty, this time in the movement of drivers, is the incorporation of the young Dane Christian Rasmussen into the Ed Carpenter Racing team. Finally, there are important new features in Argentine Ricardo Juncos' team; Juncos Hollinger Racing, just a week after the announcement of the continuity of Agustín Canapino, has officially announced the separation of the young British driver Callum Ilott who had some clashes with the "titan of Arrecifes", mainly at the Laguna Seca circuit in Long Beach, scene of the last race of the tournament that has just ended when in a risky maneuver he collided with his teammate, causing damage to the car, ruining the great task he had been performing and putting at risk the financial incentive of one million dollars with which the category rewards the 22 first places in the championship. Juncos Hollinger has not yet announced the new member of the team, although it is suspected that the seat will belong to a former Formula 1 driver, it is none other than the Swiss Romain Grosjean. Undoubtedly, if it comes to fruition, it will be a great addition to the Indycar circus that promises a new year of great shows.
Although the start of the next season is a long way off, those of us who live far away can't wait to sit in front of the TV with a good bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show.
