Hive FPL Head to Head League GW4 Previews

Game week 3 saw another raft of head to head fixtures, the majority of which went right down to the wire in Sunday's late kick-off between Newcastle and Liverpool.

With Game week 4 containing another big club clash in the form of Arsenal vs United then it seems likely that we'll have a lot of similarly fraught matches as FPL managers look for a single point here or there to get themselves over the line.

It's also worth remembering that Friday will see the close of the transfer window and it wouldn't be surprising to see a few big names and/or popular FPL picks on the move. For FPL managers, getting through GW4 and into the international break will provide an opportunity for reflection on their team's performance to date.

GW4 Fixtures and Previews

Division 1

@b0s v @vickoly

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 07.31.33.png

Both teams scraped a victory from GW3 with Legion FC making it 3 wins from 3. There are plenty of differentials on offer though which should make this a really good contest.

In goal, you'd assume that Ederson's home fixture against Fulham should provide a cleansheet but then the West London team surprised Arsenal with a couple of goals last weekend. Both teams will also have to decide whether United's leaky defence can hold up away at Arsenal with relatively high priced defensive assets on both sides.

In midfield, you'd think that Mbeumo and Foden look like they have the most favourable fixtures with which to score points from, while upfront, Augment FC have arguably the form forward in the league at the moment in Michail Antonio and Legion FC will hope that Nicolas Jackson can build on his first goal against Luton in another favourable home match against Notts Forest.

Looking at the points total from the last couple of weeks suggests that this will be a very tight contest.

At the back, you'd say that The Amirians hold a slight advantage but only if Gabriel gets some game time.

In midfield, Saka and Fernandes will go head to head on Sunday, while it's then a battle between 2 in form players in Mitoma and Mbeumo with the later having the more appealing fixture as well as 2 Spurs players in Maddison and Richarlison. The Englishman performed very well in GW3 while Richarlison did at least open his account for the season in the midweek game at Fulham.

Upfront, Alvarez and Wissa appear to hold the advantage over Blockchain FPL's options.

@yagman01 v @teofilex11

It's top versus bottom with Yagman FC currently flying against Likodra FC who were very unlucky not to record their first win of the season in GW3 despite a decent points haul. What makes this tie even more intriguing is that neither manager will simply go with the crowd in terms of both team selection and captain picks.

Lots of options at the back, although Chilwell and Gusto may yet cancel each other out in as far as a clean sheet bonus is concerned so it might come down to who performs better out of Pedro Porro and Estupinan.

In midefield, you'd say that Yagman FC hold the advantage with neither Richarlison or Ashley Barnes guaranteed a start this weekend. Upfront both Wissa and Iwoniyi have found the back of the net with relative ease in the early part of the season but the former has the easier fixture in GW4.

@thoth442 v @borran

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 08.59.35.png

We know from season 1 of the Hive FPL that these are 2 really strong sides and they both recorded victory in GW3 with thoth442FC in particular putting up some big points.

As far as differentials are concerned, there is very little to choose from. Akanji missed the trip to Sheffield United due to illness having previously recorded clean sheet bonuses in his last 2 games. That is the same as Udogie who has also looked like a danger going forward in a new look Spurs team.

As far as form goes, thoth442FC have the advantage in midfield with both Maddison and Mbeumo putting in some stellar performances so far in comparison to Eze and Richarlison.

@shamzy v @nonsowrites

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 09.21.28.png

Following poor showings in GW3, both these sides will be looking to bounce back with a victory in this head to head.

Again, very little to choose between the teams. In goal it looks likely that the choice comes down to either the budget pick of Areloa or either manager could take a punt on their first choice keeper having a big game in the Arsenal v United match.

One major factor for both these clubs to consider is the lack of points sitting on the bench. Between them, the outfield players across both sides offered just a single point in GW3 largely due to a lack of game time. That's not a problem if you've got 11 players contributing week in week out but it certainly doesn't appear to be the case at the moment.

@talesfrmthecrypt v @mckane

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 09.40.31.png

Suffragette City may hold a small advantage in the goalkeeping stakes with West Ham playing away at Luton on Friday but more generally you'd say that Chilwell and Ake represent good chances for a clean sheet while Saliba is assured of game time that Gabriel is not.

In midfield, both sides differentials all enjoy home advantage although you'd have to say that both Arsenal and Liverpool have tougher fixtures. Upfront, Nicolas Jackson is certainly an opportunity for additional points against a Forest side yet to record a clean sheet.

@pvmihalache v @ipalibo

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 13.53.13.png

Loads of variables in this fixture should keep it a contest throughout the weekend. In fact, the only players that the 2 sides have in common are Saliba and everyone's favourite pick Haaland.

At the back, Content Creators will surely bring in some reinforcements to account for the lack of depth being offered by Lamptey and Van Heck.

You'd say that Whyte FC hold the advantage in midfield if current form is anything to go on but Content Creators still have players in there who are capable of putting big points on the board.

Upfront, Darwin Nunez, fresh from his heroics in GW3, is a popular buy for teams looking for a goal threat and probably gives the Content Creators the edge in that part of the field.

@belemo v @pappyelblanco

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 14.09.23.png

2 of the creators of Hive FPL face off in GW4 with both teams having enjoyed a strong start to the season.

At the back, differentials are limited at the moment but that may change given the injury to Luke Shaw, the departure of Djed Spence and the potential transfer of George Baldock later in the week.

In midfield, Salah and Diaby will go head to head with each other on Sunday and the top performer there may go a long way to deciding this round. Upfront, Jackson will hope to build on his goalscoring form against Luton while Michail Antonio has shown why out and out centre forwards aren't quite finished just yet.

@deniskj v @gvkanten

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 14.24.09.png

It seems fitting that during a gameweek that we see Arsenal and United go head to head that we also see 2 of the clubs' supporters meet each other in the FPL.

In the offensive departments there is really very little to choose from between the 2 sides but at the back there are differences and you'd expect that both teams might be looking to use their transfer to bring in other options in defence too.

For I Feel Qatari, there are question marks over the availability of all 3 of their differentials while Hungry Lions, like so many FPL teams, might just have given up waiting for Gabriel to get his first start of the season.

@elmose v @martinlazizi

Screen Shot 2023-08-31 at 14.38.37.png

Again a fixture where the 2 teams currently have just 2 players in common.

After a brilliant GW2, Lazz fell back to earth in GW3 while Espada Numero Uno have ground out a couple of hard fought victories in recent matches to move themselves up the league.

New Chelsea keeper Sanchez probably represents the best chance of a clean sheet bonus as far a GKs are concerned, although with doubts over the fitness of Mee and Konate, Lazz may be forced into making some defensive changes.

The midfield of both teams are packed with players who put big points on the board so it will come down to luck of the draw as to who performs on the day.

Upfront, it'll be a close run thing with Watkins and Wissa both showing good form while Osula and Solanke will both lead the line in what are key games for their respective clubs.
