Alive and Thriving on Monday I Actifit report number 1215

avatar

Hello, there! How are you? I hope that you are doing great. Welcome to my post. It's actifit report number 1215. It's also the Alive & Thriving report on Oct 21, 2024.

It was an average Monday. It was quite a busy day in the clinic. While on the morning shift, there were fewer patients, on the evening shift, the picture was quite the opposite. I hardly had any free time during the evening shift duty. One reason for that is that we had one GP short in the evening shift. Another reason is the ongoing flu season! In total, on Monday, I consulted 39 patients in my chamber.

Of them, there was a known renal stone patient. He was suffering from it for a long time. From his native place, the doctor told him to remove the stone surgically because it was too big to pass automatically. He didn't listen to the doctor. He returned to Oman. Now, he is getting severe abdominal pains quite frequently! I gave him injectable painkillers. I also urged him to do the surgery! I hope that he starts listening to the doctors!

At home, I'm still lazy! I had a second round of morning sleep and an afternoon nap. Moreover, no treadmill walk and no workout! I am eating, playing with the kid, and sleeping!

Okay. That's all for now. I am Alive, Healthy, and Thriving, Alhamdulillah. How about you?

The patient should listen to his doctor and go for surgery, his health should be paramount.

I am not good about listening to doctors so I understand this man, when his pain is unbearable, he will have it done.

I need surgery on my hand, I know it, but I keep putting it off because if I do not use it, it does not hurt, if it starts hurting when I am not using it I will need to think about it.

You have been very busy caring for people don't forget to care for yourself, you seem tired. I hope you have not caught something from someone I do not understand how doctors stay so healthy with the amount of people they see each day.

Think about the risk-benefit ratio. If doing surgery is more beneficial in the long run, go for it. Don't make it worse by not going for the proper management.

Your guess is correct. I do catch something sometimes. Alhamdulillah, nothing serious so far.

Thank you very much.

Surgery scares me because of being put under, I worry if I will wake from it and the thought of them taking 3 bones out of my hand turns my stomach. I know my quality of life will be better after the healing but he told me it will be a year before I am happy with it and that worries me. I know I need to do it BUT>>>>I am scared>>>>>.

I have heard that taking a zinc tablet every day will help from getting sick. I do not know if that is true, also I had a doctor who I liked going to tell me to put Neosporin, the triple antibiotic, on a Q-Tip and rub it on the inside of your nose to keep from getting sick. He said that is all he uses it for. I hope you can stay healthy through this flu season.

Every Surgery has a risk. For hand surgery, will they put you under? or they will give the regional block only?

Zinc has some immune booster effects. It may help!

I thought they would put me under but now I am not sure, I would rather have the regional block.
