A Day of Shopping and Swimming with My Son / 次男と買い物＆スイミングスクール - My Actifit Report Card: February 27 2025

I feel like I've been walking a lot lately! Today, I'm posting from Actifit again.

Today, we went shopping for my second son's suit for his daycare graduation and elementary school entrance ceremonies. Fortunately, like yesterday, it was a warm day, and my heart was lifted by the sight of weeping plum blossoms, which gave off a true feeling of spring.

Since it's the season for it, there were plenty of children's suits lined up in the store. However! Because my second son is quite tall, there were hardly any suits in his size in the entrance ceremony section... We had him try on a 130cm gray suit, and while the shirt and jacket looked great on him, the pants were a bit too tight, so we had to pass on it. We ended up choosing a black suit from the limited selection available in size 130B. And of course, we also had to buy shoes...

I can't even count how many times I've used my credit card this month.😢 I have a feeling there are still many more things to buy as we prepare for both of my children's school entrances. There's nothing to do but work hard! 🤣

After that, we headed to my second son's swimming lesson. Starting this month, he moved up another level, which means his lesson now starts an hour later than before.

The problem is, at this time, I'm not allowed to enter the changing room with him. That means he has to handle all his changing by himself. While he's perfectly fine changing into his swimsuit, he still struggles a bit with putting on his goggles over his swim cap. Last week, the strap got twisted, and he had trouble fixing it. Would he be okay today...?
Feeling nervous, I watched from the gallery, only to see my son standing there without his swim cap or goggles—he had forgotten to put them on! 😭 (At least he remembered to wear his swimsuit.)

I frantically tried to signal him with gestures from the gallery, but he didn't even notice. I had no choice but to ask one of the coaches in the office to tell him to go get his cap and goggles.
After the lesson, he also has to dry himself off properly, change clothes, and leave the changing room without forgetting anything. Even though he'll be in elementary school soon, I can't help but feel that these tasks are quite challenging for a six-year-old.

That said, he seems very motivated when it comes to swimming practice itself. On the way home, he eagerly talks about what he learned in class and the advice he received from the coach. However, despite being in a class with around 20 other kids, he never mentions any of them. As a parent, I wondered if he had made any friends or talked to anyone, so I asked him. His response was quite surprising! 🤣

"I go to swimming school to practice swimming, not to make friends."

...Wow, he’s just like me😭😭This made me a little worried that he might end up isolated when he starts elementary school.

As always, we walk to his swimming class on Thursdays, so this ends up being one of the days I walk the most in the week.

最近よく歩く気がする！今日もActifitから投稿します。

今日は次男の卒園式、入学式用のスーツを買いに行ってきました。幸い昨日に引き続き暖かい日で、春を感じさせる枝垂れ梅にココロが弾みました。

ちょうどシーズンなので、売り場にはたくさんの子ども用スーツが並んでいました。ところが！次男は背が高いため、入学式用のコーナーにはほとんど合うサイズがなく…　130センチのグレーのスーツを試着したところ、シャツとジャケットが良く似合っていました。ただズボンが若干パツパツだったため断念。種類の少ない130Bのサイズから、黒系のスーツを選びました。それから靴も…。

今月はもう、何度カードを切ったことでしょう😢たぶん、子ども2人の入学に向けてまだまだ買わなければならないものが出てくる気がします。頑張って働くしかないです🤣

その後、次男のスイミングのレッスンに向かいました。今月からまたひとつ進級し、以前よりレッスンの時間が1時間遅くなっています。

困ったことに、この時間はわたしが一緒に更衣室に入ることができないのです。そのため、着替えは全て次男がひとりでやらなければなりません。

次男は水着への着替えは問題なくできるものの、スイミングキャップを被った上からゴーグルを着用するのがやはり少し難しいようで、先週もゴーグルのゴムの部分が捻れてしまっていました。今日は大丈夫だろうか… ドキドキしながらギャラリーからプールサイドを眺めていたところ、なんとキャップもゴーグルもつけ忘れた次男の姿が😭（水着を穿き忘れていないだけよかった）

ギャラリーからジェスチャーで必死に合図を送るも気づく気配すらなく、仕方がないので事務室のコーチ経由でキャップとゴーグルを取ってくるよう伝えてもらいました。レッスン終了後も、一人できちんと身体を拭いて着替え、忘れ物なく更衣室から出てこなければなりません。4月から小学生とはいえ、6歳児にはなかなかハードルが高いような気もします。

次男はスイミングの練習自体にはとてもやる気があるようで、帰り道は今日のレッスンの内容や、コーチからもらったアドバイスなどについて色々話してくれます。ただ同じクラスには20人ほどの幼児・児童がいるにもかかわらず、その子たちに関しては何も言いません。親としては、友達できたかな、誰かと話したかな…　と気になり、聞いてみると驚きの答えが🤣

「スイミングの練習に行ってるだけで、友達をつくりに行ってるわけじゃないんでね」

・・・なんという私みたいな奴😢こりゃ小学校に上がっても孤立するかもしれんなと、やや心配になった今日でした。

相変わらず木曜のスイミングには徒歩で通っているため、一週間の中でもよく歩く日になります。
