When I picked up my second son from daycare yesterday, his teacher told me that his ears had turned bright red after his nap.

I picked him up a little before 5:00 p.m., but when I saw him, the redness was already gone and there was nothing wrong... I told her I would check on him at home and went home. Later that night, there was nothing unusual about his condition.

However, when I woke up this morning, my son's ears were indeed bright red! He had no fever, was in good spirits, and had a good appetite. Was this a symptom of some kind of allergy? I wasn't sure whether to give him a day off from daycare or not, but today was the day of the bake sale event he had been looking forward to all day. It didn't look like an infection and he wanted to go, so I decided to let him attend the morning event only.

I picked him up before noon and went home once. His ears were still red, but I took a picture because there was a chance the symptoms would go away again before the doctor's appointment. Here is the picture.

When I touched his ear, the red part was hot and “itchy” according to him.... I have never seen this symptom before. We left home before 3:00 p.m. and took the bus to the clinic in front of the station. He was fine and happy to be able to ride his favorite bus.

Since I had completed the internet interview beforehand, the consultation went smoothly. However, in the end, we still did not know what was the cause of his symptoms. The doctor said his throat was a little swollen as if he had a cold. But there was no fever, coughing, sneezing, or any other symptoms. It could be an allergy, or it could be an infection.

The doctor said it could be Fifth disease because one of his cheeks was red, but at the time the redness appeared (i.e., around noon yesterday), the infection had already weakened, so all that was left was to wait for him to recover. The prescription was for an antiallergic drug. He also said that as long as there were no problems with my son's condition, it was OK for him to go to daycare.

My second son was in good spirits, so we walked home from the hospital. Although the wind was cold, I could feel a slight hint of spring in the evening. The last photo is a miniature of a flower shop sold at a 300 yen store we stopped by on our way home. The price of it was 500 yen though 😅My second son is very good at getting his parents to buy things for him, so I am in trouble😂

I took over 5,000 steps to and from the hospital. ...That's good, but I feel like I have a sore throat too. I'm going to start another 5-day work week at my part time job tomorrow, so I'm going to sleep after posting this today.

昨日次男を保育園に迎えに行った際、お昼寝のあとに耳が真っ赤になっていたと先生から聞きました。

お迎えは17時少し前でしたが、私が見たときには既に赤みはひいていて異常なし・・・家でも様子を見てみます、と伝えて帰宅しました。その後、夜も何ともありませんでした。

ところが、今朝起きると確かにまた耳が真っ赤になっています！熱はなく、元気もあるし、食欲もある。何かのアレルギーの症状だったのでしょうか。保育園を休ませるかどうするか迷いましたが、今日はずっと楽しみにしていた「お店屋さんごっこ」の日。感染症のようでもないし、本人も行きたがっていたので、午前中のお店屋さんごっこだけ参加させることにしました。

給食の前に迎えに行き、いったん帰宅。次男の耳はまだ赤いままでしたが、また症状が消えてしまう可能性もあったので、写真を撮っておきました。これがその写真です。

耳を触ってみると赤い部分は熱を持っていて、次男曰く「痒い」とのこと…。見たことのない症状です。15時前に家を出て、バスで駅前のクリニックへ向かいました。本人は元気で、大好きなバスに乗ることができて喜んでいました。

事前にネット問診を済ませていたため、診察はスムーズでした。ただ、結局原因はなんだか分からないまま。喉を見てもらうと、風邪をひいたときのように少し腫れているとのことでしたが、熱や咳、くしゃみなどの症状はありません。アレルギーかもしれないし、感染症かもしれない。

片頬が赤くなっていたためりんご病の可能性も考えられるとのことでしたが、赤みが出た時点（つまり昨日の昼頃）で既に感染力は弱まっているので、あとは回復を待つだけとのこと。処方されたのは抗アレルギー薬でした。体調に問題がなければ、保育園にも行ってOKと言われました。

次男が元気だったので、病院の帰りは歩きで。風は冷たかったものの、少しだけ春の気配が感じられる夕方でした。

最後の写真は、帰りがけに寄った300円ショップに売っていたお花屋さんのミニチュアです。500円でしたが😅次男は親にモノを買わせるのがうまいので困ります。

病院の行き帰りで5,000歩を超えました。・・・それは良いのですが、なんだか私も喉が痛いような気がします。明日からまたパートの連勤が始まるので、今日はこれを投稿したら早めに布団に入ろうと思います。
