Delivering a Lost Item to the Police Station / 落とし物を交番に届ける （My Actifit Report Card: August 29 2024）

Although the weather has cooled down considerably compared to early August, it is still too hot and humid for walking. Because of this, I have not been getting enough exercise recently.

So today, I dared to go shopping on foot to the supermarket where I usually go by bicycle. With a large typhoon approaching, the sky was gray with clouds and the air was thick, and every step I took felt heavy. By the time I returned home after shopping, I was drenched in sweat... It was hot and humid, and my luggage was heavy, so the walking itself was not comfortable, but when I returned home and showered, I noticed that I felt lighter than before the walk. I realized that physical exercise is wonderful.

Actually, on the way to the shopping, I found a wooden carving of Daikokuten and Ebisu in a park I was passing by and delivered them to the police station ...

Daikokuten is the god of wealth, agriculture, and prosperity in Japanese mythology. He is often depicted with a big sack and standing on bales of rice, symbolizing abundance and good fortune.　Ebisu is the god of fishermen and luck. He is typically shown with a fishing rod and a sea bream, representing prosperity and good harvests. Ebisu is known for his kind and cheerful nature. Both gods are part of the Seven Lucky Gods and are worshipped for bringing good fortune and success.

Perhaps they were not dropped off, but illegally dumped. I think the person who dumped it probably felt like “I don't want it, but I can't throw away God as garbage,” and left it in a public place, hoping that someone would take it. However, not many people would take home a wood carving whose owner is unknown. I was heartbroken to think that the wood carving would be ruined if exposed to the wind and rain, and decided to deliver it to the police station.

I even took some photos that might be good for Actifit posting. But on the back of the form I filled out when reporting at the police station, there was a note to refrain from posting details on social media, so I'm not going to do that, just in case. It's pretty unlikely that someone will see this post on Hive and do something about it...but just in case.

I waived the right to claim a thank you, etc. if the owner showed up. However, I did not waive only the right of ownership in case the owner does not show up for the next 3 months. In other words, if the owner does not show up within the time limit, I can get the wood carving.

If that Daikoku and Ebisu become mine, I will post again at that time. Today I achieved 6,500 and I am just about satisfied🙂

8月上旬と比べるとかなり涼しくなったとはいえ、まだまだ蒸し暑くウォーキングにはつらい日々が続いています。そのせいでこのところすっかり運動不足です。

そこで今日は、普段自転車で行くスーパーに、あえて徒歩で買い物に行きました。大型の台風が近づいていることもあり、空には灰色の雲が立ち込め、空気もどんよりしていて、一歩一歩が重たく感じられました。買い物を終え、帰宅するころには汗だく・・・蒸し暑いわ、荷物は重いわでウォーキング自体は快適といえるものではありませんでしたが、帰ってシャワーで汗を流すと、歩く前より身体が軽くなっていることに気づきました。やっぱり、少し身体を動かさなきゃダメなんだなと実感。

実はこの買い物の途中、通りかかった公園で木彫りの大黒様と恵比寿様を見つけて、交番に届けたんですよ・・・

おそらく落とし物ではなく、不法投棄だったと思います。棄てた人は「要らないけど、神様をゴミとして棄てることができない」みたいな思いで、誰かが持っていくことを期待して、人目につく場所に放置したんじゃないかと思います。

でも、持ち主の分からない木彫りを持って帰る人はそうそういるものではありません。これから台風もくるし、雨風に晒されたら木彫りがダメになってしまう・・・と思うと心が痛み、交番に届けることにしました。

投稿のネタにいいかもしれないと、写真も撮ったんです。でも交番での届出の際に書いた書類の裏面に、詳細（物の写真や拾得場所、届け先の交番等）をSNSに投稿することは控えるようにとの注意書きがあったので、念のためやめておきます。誰かがHiveのこの記事を見てどうこう・・・というのはかなり考えにくいですが、念のため。

持ち主が現れた場合にお礼等を請求する権利は放棄、今後3ヶ月間持ち主が現れなかった場合の所有権だけは放棄せずにおきました。つまり期限内に持ち主が現れなければ、私が木彫りをゲットすることができます😂

もしあの大黒様と恵比寿様が私のものになったら、その時に改めて投稿したいと思います。

今日は6,500を達成し、まあまあ満足です！
